What's a good price on a buy back? Libby was worth 23K.

How'd your wife break L3 and L4? that had to be a rough incident! I'm surprised that didn't aggravate the old injury

She had a rare back condition called spondylolisthesis. It occurs in teenagers that grow too fast. She grew so fast that she had a sheering on her spinous processes which resulted in a grade 4 slipage. Basiccally she is very lucky she was not paralyzed.
Here's a good link.

Well the insurance made me an innitial offer of $19500 last Friday. After a few freindly discussions and some help from the good folks at Rock Lizard the insurance made me a new offer of $23750 today, and we are still in negotiations. Does this seem like a pretty fair amount for the vehicle? It did have 50K miles and it was just a CRD sport model but boy did it have the offroad goodies. :D

Any word on a buyback figure? (eagerly awaits CRD swap)

Glad they made you a better offer, usually you can hold out for a little more.

I didn't read all the pages of this thread, but I could not imagine watching my family go through that. Talk about your heart sinking.

I'm glad everyone was ok.

Pookie took the words right out of my mouth. It would be bad enough knowing that my family was in a wreck, but haveing to watch it and not be able to do anything... as my grandfather would have said you had angels on the four corners of that vehicle. Glad to know everyone is ok. You are truely blessed.

Wow! I can't imagine seeing that in my rearview mirror! I would have FREAKED out!! You and your family are definitely blessed, AND you were driving a really stout vehicle. Your family is in my prayers for continued good health. But, as others have said, get checked out anyway.

If the payout is $23750, the salvage/buyback shouldn't be more than $4750 (which is 20% of the "value"). If I were in the same position, and I had room to store the wrecked KJ, I'd definitely buy it back. No question that you could get more than $5000 out of the parts that are still good on that truck.

Sorry to see you drop as a fellow KJ CRD owner. I really enjoyed watching your buildup. Keep us posted on your Lexus buildup.

Dude, I'm glad to hear the family is okay. I'd have to say that if I watched that happen in the rearview mirror, there would have been two accidents right then: hers and then mine as I freaked out trying to get back to them! As many have said, stories like this make me feel a lot better about putting my new infant in my Jeep not to mention the rest of my family.

WOW!!! so glad all are okay. Having had my wife steamrolled from behind by a semi when she was 8 months pregnant with my second son, I know your fright...thank god your guardian angels were on duty that day...I hope they remain in good health with no later pains. My wife still has shoulder and wrist pains 4 years later.

Anyhow, did anyone else notice the second to last shot with the cars in the background? Never saw a Dodge charger with a brush guard on the front...that must be some interesting wheelin they do eh?

Again, glad your family is safe...more important than any piece of material goods we could EVER buy!!!! those are all replaceable, family is not.

That "Dodge Charger with brush guard" is probably the police-model Charger with ram bar

Too bad Rock Lizard did not make the whole body. Then you could have just winched it over and drove off. Of course you would only get 1/4 mile per gallon.

[quote="spencevans"]What I would really like is a new KK with a diesel and a six speed. I guess I'll just have to wait and see. quote]

Unfortunately Chrysler has NO plans for a future diesel for the KK However, a Wrangler diesel is a possibility in the near future.

With the New Deisel in the Grand Cherokee and having recently sat in the soon to be dicontinued the Commander ( a Black Beauty with loaded Bells and Whistles) I would get that in a heart beat with the HEMI and the size so close to the KK I really loved this ride more. If it was available in a Deisel I may just be truly swayed towards this ride maybe it's just me but seemed to have more finish and beauty then the KK . But thats just my taste with a deisel I would have a greaty deal of difficulty resisting the Deisel Commander
