Hey CX,
I bought my '06 with 6800 miles in Valentine, NE (not far from you) for $22,000. I put
$ down and drove out there from Idaho with a trailer behind my F250,
gave it a brief test drive and loaded it up. These things are not so plentiful that
you can mess around much. Once I had decided to get one it was just a matter of finding
the right one. Then it was done.

I am not trying to be rude....just tell it like it is! The sales guy dropped the ball as 90% do. I sell jeeps and found a crd back east...gave them $$$ and sent a credit union check. They are hard to find and $2000 more on the west coast. Do a search autotrader.com, I went through all of them and found a 05 55K sport for $14K. Make the dealer split shipping.

Well maybe when the next one comes along you'll use what you learned here and do a better job of communicating with the salesperson as it's obvious he considered you another "tire kicker" :-)r I spent 3 hours at the dealer buying my 06 new but got the color, model and equiptment I wanted and paid what I thought was agood honest price, $5k off sticker. I got mine when they were selling out of 06 models, early summer 06, some dealers would drop $7k off the sticker depending on how loaded it was  and others a few hundred  Now it's a seller's market for used ones :?

You make me wish I was not in the NW when I got mine. The ones out here were dissapearing less than 24 hours after they arrived, and most dealers were *inflating* prices around $6k due to the high demand. My original sticker reads $32k for a Sport with a few options! On the other hand, I paid $8k less since my gf's father is a Chrysler engineer, so I don't know that I could have done better in your neck of the woods, but who knows?

With the huge disparity in demand/pricing one would think that it might be worth it to launch a diesel passenger vehicle for the states where its high demand, and just forget the midwest or something since the negative reports on sales seem to come from there.

Mine was on the dealer's lot from late January till late May when I got it. Mine is a low end Limited with parcel shelf and Sirius radio as the only two extra's and it was in Atlantic Blue  8) The sticker was $28+ and I paid cash with no trade to fool with. A quick done deal for them :D

I brought mine off the showroom, they had it driven out the side double door as I signed papers. They had to move two other cars to do it. Boy, do they give you quick service when your buying it. They even filled the fuel tank and wiped off the finger prints.

I'm not whining, I was just upset when it happened. I've moved on and I'm looking for a different vehicle. Because most people bought 5-7k off of sticker, I'm not going to pay new price either. I'm limited on funds, and need to pinch pennies.

Ultimately money talks and you know what walks. I can understand why you think the sales rep should have given you notice; maybe I would have been ticked off too. But, without putting money down on the deal to indicate your intent you're leaving it up to the sales rep to determine how serious you are.

When I was looking for my CRD in '06 I asked my sales rep about the rumored new GC CRD. He said de ddin't know anything about it. I bought my liberty CRD and about a year later a new '07 GC CRD arrive at the dealership. My sales rep called and asked if I wanted to test drive it. I said I'd think about it and maybe I'd come in; I never went in. That was around last Easter. The sales rep hasn't talked to me about it since and the vehicle is still sitting on the lot.

I guess the bottom line is that some sales reps make assumptions about how interested you are in a deal. Ever been to a Lexus dealer? You practically have to dealer prep the vehicle yourself before they say hi to you!
