Anybody know how to disable the auto lock function for the rear hatch? It's an 05' CRD, if that makes any difference.
I had the Dealer do the auto lock disable for the doors right after I purchased the CRD but when I brought it back because the rear hatch still auto locked, I was told that the rear hatch couldn't be disabled through the computer.
Thanks!

Agreed with DarbyWalters.

The BCM (Body Control Module) locks the rear hatch and flip/glass as well as all doors when the vehichle passes the threshold of 15 mph. The BCM also locks the rear hatch and flip/glass when the vehicle is put into reverse.

The BCM prevents the flip-up glass latch from being actuated when the tailgate latch is locked.

The tailgate will lock and can not be unlocked if the rear wiper switch is activated. The tailgate will also lock if battery power is lost and then restored.

The tailgate/flip-up glass will not function with the battery discharged or disconnected.

Actually... the part that pisses *ME* off is that you cannot disable the interior lights while the rear hatch is open when you're trying to back up to your trailer in the dark. And w/ the "privacy" glass... leaving it down is ~just~ as helpful. Grr.

Something else that pisses me off is that those interior lights turn themselves off after awhile, meaning you can sit in the jeep and leave them on for hours at a time while you read or whatever.

Sure you can. Just press the rear cargo lamp lens. There's a switch built in that turns the lights off when the flipper glass and/or swing gate are open. The lights still come on when the doors are open. Alternatively you can rotate the interior dimmer/dome control (on the headlamp stalk) all the way back to defeat the interior lights all the time.

OR... just press the switch down thats in the Tailgate the the Glass would press... lights turns off and all is swell! :D

then when you need to close the glass just pull the handle and "pop" goes the latch!
