Does anyone else that is F37'ed have inconsistent shifting? Some days it shifts nice, other days, its like it has to 'think' to shift. There are also time as I come to a stop it feel like the converter unlocks and it shudders.

I changed the fluid couple thousand miles ago with new filters if that matters. Castrol ATF +4.....

Yep.. my CRD does this. Some days it shifts slower and clunks around other days it shifts nice and smooth. I still get the occasional 'wham' at about 55/60 MPH on the highway when coasting.. the tach swings up as well.. This has happened only about 5 times in total since I bought it. When I was towing a trailer it would shift all crazy like as well. Right when I needed the extra torque it would shift to a higher gear and drop out of the powerband.. then it would decide to shift back down.. then up.. weird stuff.

A very long time ago I read that before you trouble shoot any transmission problems you make sure the engine is running correctly  That was more then 40 years ago and still holds true on our CRD's :!: Nix, your trailer towing experience mirrored mine and was cured when I installed a lift pump  Without proper fuel flow a diesel will run like crap, smoke more and use more fuel:shock:
