When you first turn the key on, all the idiot lights on the dash should come on briefly to prove that they work. I don't know what a "wait to start light" looks like, but I don't have a GLOW PLUG light, and my owner's manual lists that as an "if equipped" item.
Could someone explain this to me? I know I have been feeding it diesel fuel, and gassers don't run too well on oil... So shouldn't I have glow plugs? And wouldn't I then also have a light for when I *do* need to wait to start?
I'm coming into this CRD from a VW TDI, so I'm not just falling off the turnip truck here... But I thought it was bizarre that I don't seem to have any GP light in the dash.
If your liberty is a diesel, then you have this wait-to-start light. You just
haven't seen it come on. Depending on the ambient temps in your area it
may only come on for a fraction of a second. The light is yellow and looks
like a coil of wire. If its really cold out it might come on for 1-2 seconds. If
its really really really cold it might come on for longer than 2 seconds. I live
in Florida and if I look really close and dont blink I can see it flicker.
The glow plugs on the CRD are made to heat up really quick so your
average driver who has never owned a diesel before can get in and quickly
turn the key to start without ever needing to worry about the glow-plug
light.
