Some hate ESP saying that it takes control away. Others feel that it improves off road performance. Some of the '08 off road trials users loved the newest version of it, another didn't understand why they couldn't do donuts in a snow covered parking lot.

Only '06-'07 KJ's and the '08 KK's have ESP(thank god  ).

I think ESP was an available '05 option

Why the hate for ESP?

Well I think one of the problems is, if you do have ESP you cant add lockers I thought????
Not at all(the JK Rubicon has ESP and lockers),my biggest reason for hating ESP and ABS is you first should be able to drive without those techno gizmo's before having them, that's why SUV's got a bad rep for being to easy to roll, poeple don't know how to drive,PERIOD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Having a locker in the rear and a True Trac in the front will not stop you from blowing the front housing, I have both and still blew mine. You don't have to be going fast to get the front tires in the air, just a bump and they're up. Crawling doesn't always get you where you need to go, and sometimes you have to just put your foot in it a little.
When the spinning front tire gets air borne and then drops on a surface where tire suddenly grips is the problem. Droping on a slick surface decreases the chance of breakage since the tire doesn't grip on the slick surface and generally keeps spinning.

Lets face it, our front housing sucks :!:
Granted our D30A's suck(hello HP44) but I always have my brakes applied about halfway to make sure my TT is "locked" if I have to goose it up/over,in 4-low I can easily over power my brakes so my front wheels are rarely ever spinning different speeds.I use my ARB and TT,I don't try something without them(granted the TT is a LSD but always have my brakes applied).

So your saying I could put a couple of ARB's on if I wanted, and the ESP wont matter???

You know it shouldn't matter.ESP detects unequal wheel speed via the ABS sensors and applies the brakes to the faster spinning wheels to keep traction right? Well with F/R ARB's locked there will not be any wheel slippage so the ESP should never activate,or am I just full of doo-doo?

Sounds right to me, takes ESP out of the equation

Jeep puts lockers on them from the factory....no need for ESP in the first place??? Mandatory lockers on ALL Jeep models exlcuding the compass from now on....

Oh if I were an automotive engineer, what they wouldn't let me get away with....
