0311_DoC,

To be honest the only issue I had with my install, and it was because of the options i have on my 07 limited, is that the TPM wheel well sensors were mounted too low and needed to be relocated. They used one of the mounting points for the washer bottle/horn covers that ARB has and they also stuck out after all was installed. I just drilled out the rivets and moved them up a couple of inches

so is that what this is?

That is what it looks like. I just drilled out the rivet and moved it up a couple of inches and bolted it back on, works great.

Ok, so I just got off the phone with Larry. He was telling me about when DCX sent him a test vehicle that it sounds like they sent a late model 04 saying it was an 05. he said when he saw my pics the test vehicle's front end was nothing like that. So on to the possible good news. He is going to get back to me and have the shop that builds his race cars come to fix it. and make everything right since I have already hacked up my KJ. And the best part is, this shop is down the street from my house in Arizona. On another note, he doesnt believe he is going to market this thing for 05+ anymore, since I am having all these issues. It sounds like his race car builder is going to do some custom stuff to the bumper to make it work, so we shall see. He also mentioned about the possibility of raising the top plate like RL suggested and what JHCRASH said by possibly raising the C-channels up a bit. So I will keep you posted. Thanks everybody for all the input and support.

well he didn't call back. I don't know if thats good or bad or if he just could get a hold of his guy???

too bad for all the trouble you couldn't have his race car guy add a matching rear bumper...since he put you out so much with the cluster-F of a front bumper. would seem not out of the realm...if they even make a KJ rear bumper. just thinking outloud. LOL

They make a nice looking rear bumper or at least I think it is, but you can not run the spare tire on the gate then due to the design of it, no cut out for it just goes straight across.........

I already paid for a Rock Lizard Rear, just waiting for it. I just hope since this guy builds race cars hes a good fabricator and can tweak it to make it work. we will see.

Just got an email from TR:

Yes, my racing partner rich will do it. He and I will go over the pics today and set up a time. I’ll give him your contact info.

thats good news...time to pick up any other tidbit you want installed while he's at that bumper, maybe your 02 fogs, turn signals, etc to have him put it all in as it should be. be sure to post up pics after the "racing KJ" is completed. ;)

From the way it looks yes they should fit right in there up to what 04s or ?? one end slids in the notch and other end bolts in, easy same as the ARBs.

You can mount a spare on the door with the rear bumper...since it sits closer to the body...

Hey Guys..

I know Larry pretty well. He'll fix it for you... might take a little bit, but before you go bashing him and his company, give him the opportunity to fix the problem, ok? sounds like he had a bad bar go out the door. I'd be lying if I said we never had it happen. We're just a lot bigger and can fix it faster, so no one ever hears about it... we hire Ninjas to take care of it. ;)

Woody, I didn't know you needed a badge. Call me Friday at the office and I'll send you one. I have a super secret stash.
Jason, I didn't blow you off on springs... you should have my cell number somewhere... call me and I'll get you taken care of, too.

Aloha, suckers!

Seth, thanks for the kind words. All in all I just want the bumper to fit and work. I just hope it can be done, since I have an 06 and the bumper apparently wasnt designed for my model year, unbeknown to TR. I was told their test vehicle's front end was totally different then mine was. But hey if you can put a kind bug in his ear I would surely appreciate it.

Seth,

Thanks for the cooling words. I still expect a company, such as yours, to provide a good, safe and properly fitting product, THE FIRST TIME. Silly me for expecting that. I apprieciate your comments to his defense. And you are right maybe we did pile on a little bit. But it should not matter how big a company is. Their product(s) should be right when the leave the factory or shop. I understnad if there is a problem with shipping and say a bumper falls off a truck and gets bent or finish is messed up. That is out of everybody's control. But marketing the wrong product and then expecting the customer to work through and possibly even pay to make it work the way it was marketed is just not right, no matter who you are. That is a correctable problem and I think we all expect TR to make it right and to fix it so it never happens again. I also think somebody has gotten the message that We all are watching how TR handles this and it will be to 0311_DOC's satisfaction. Nobody wants this kind of bad publicity. But they can make it right and prove that they care about our hard earned dollars, not to mention our "passion" for our KJ's.

We may be nuts but we got Bucks to spend on them.

As for the ARB badge, Marc took real good care of me. I got the new turn signals and the Badge on Wed. and all looks great. What I do need is the fog light bracket. Marc said it has to come from Down under. What you can help me out with is a hawse fairlead for the future winch i plan to install. Spider Trax has one with the mounting holes off center. can you investigate that and see if it will work on my ARB and allow me to run synthetic lines? Thanks.

Again I apprieciate your efforst to help out a colleague in the industry. That says alot to me. And Sorry if we (I) laid it on kind of heavy. I guess we are all jaded by having to deal with the stealership and jump at the slightest chance to bash anybody else who even looks like they are acting that way.

well I got another email from TR this morning:

Rich is going to call you and set up a time for you to drop your car off. He’ll need it for a day. He’ll take care of the bumper install. You’ll have to do the washer bottle relocate.

Make sure you have the piaa 510 lights for him when you drop off the car.

I'm sorry this happened but it looks like they are going to take care of it for you. :D I've been busy but I can check on the 04-05 grill compatability tonight if you still need to know.

Dave
