Does anyone have the front Skid Row skid? If so, how do you like it? Where is the cheapest place to find it? Thanks.

PM JeepinAl or check his website http://www.jeepinbyal.com. He is an authorized retailer for Skid Row.

Man, I really have been missing things lately. When did SkidRow start making front, t-case and gas tank skids?

You talking about the tranny skid or actual front diff skid?

If it's the tranny skid these aren't very tuff from what I hear. I would suggest getting a mopar one for $30 or spend an extra $75 and get All J's.

Front diff skid. For tranny protection there is no substitute for All-J.

Where do you buy your All J tranny skid? $30 for Mopar + $75 more for All J Tranny Skid = $105? I don't think so. It costs more than double that price ($265).

Besides, the talk is about the front skid.

I've seen a couple pictures of the front skid and it looks like it dosen't take away as much clearence as the stock mopar one does. However I believe it is like 3 times the price of the stock one. 50 dollars vs 150 dollars.

We actually saw the new version of the Skidrow tranny skid on our last run. It is a tank compared to the old one.

I am running the tranny skid and can tell you it will take the full weight of the Libby on the rocks.

Was definitely talking about the front diff skid, not the tranny. Hey Skyjump, seeing the skid, what other impressions besides being a tank did you get? I am well aware of the cost difference from the mopar skid but if I am going to pay for one, I want the maximum longevity and protection.

I'd say All J's still provides the most protection (it has outriggers and is THICK), but its also more $$$. This covered a lot more area than the original Skidrow and had "bends" in the steel for strength. Not sure what the technical term would be. Overall it was just much better looking than the original which was basically a flat peice of cr@p, er umm...steel.

Sorry I wasn’t clear, I meant Skid row is around $200 so add another $75 and you get the toughest on the market.

BTW, I've been supported on my MOPAR Tranny skid on a ledge rock on poison spyder trail, better that then my tranny.... Taking a direct impact falling hard on it obviously would not be as strong, but my point was for $30 get it and save up for the all j's instead of wasting the $ on the skid row, however it appears they have resolved the problem with theirs failing so I suppose it's a good option.

Chillll... I ask if he meant the front or tranny skid. Jeez. Thank you all, have a good day.

So this skid is one piece and protects the crossmember and the oilpan??

If that is the case, that seems like a cood investment to me.

It is not one piece. There are 3 different skid plates - front, engine/tranny, & transfer case. I am interested in the front skid. However, once the skids are mounted they do appear to be one plate.

Looks like the one I posted the pic of will do what you are wanting. I am thinking about ordering one for the wife's Libby.
