My Lift Idea

Okay Im finally about ready to lift my Jeep but I was wanting to run my idea past you guys first to make sure its gonna work, heres what I was thinking:

OME HD coils-Rustys
Rancho Front Struts-Local Automotive Store
OME Rear Shocks-Rustys
Strut Plate-Rustys
clevis (3 Conduit Nuts)-Local Hardware Store
.75" Front Poly Spacer-Rustys
2 Upper Spring Isolators (ea. side)-Dealership

so what do you think? will it be too much in the front or will it work? :?:

You will not be able to squeeze new springs and the .75" poly spacer inside the strut assembly unless you get a new strut top plate, like the daystar. Rusty's strut plate is just a small over the top spacer.

You can fit a total of 3 isolaters per side. That is 2 extra plus the factory one. Anymore and might as well go with a different type of spacer or longer springs.

What eddo said but also, a clevis lift, OME HD coils with the .75in spacer, and the rustys top plate will be way to much lift.

too much stuff in there for sure, read up on what works and doesnt work for others, what youre suggesting will not work, or maybe you dont want to drive it

ok so forget the strut plate, what advantages are there to cutting the coil to get the 3/4" poly spacer to fit? like tjkj2002 did,

so then just a clevis in the front and 2 isolaters in the rear? and then would that put me up to 3"?

tjkj cut his since he had one of the first skyjacker which if I remember right he said was too high. I would not cut an OME just to put a spacer in , doesnt make sense at all

really confused as to why you think you need the spacer in there at all?
Search back through for Pbrugs lift he used OME heavy duty springs, a top spacer from Rustys since he already had it and rancho struts/shocks I think front and rear. Thats the most I would do.

thats why I was asking, I didnt know why he cut his, so you wouldnt do a clevis on the front or the rear isolater?? PBrug has a 1/4" clevis, okay so then the coils chocks struts and slight clevis and 1 or 2 rear isolaters? b/c Im adding a rear bumper and I its gonna be pretty heavy

Heavy duty front and rear will hold the bumpers thats what they are designed for. Do a clevis in the front, and extra isolater in the rear later if you think you need it, you can put those in later only takes 1/2 hour

I will be doing/trying the exact same thing except adding the daystar upper strut plates. In the front i'll be using a 3 ring clevis, rusty's 2.5" coils (that sagged to hell), rusty's upper strut plate spacer with rusty's polly spacer and of course the daystar upper strut plates. I've heard that you can't compress the springs enough to get the poly spacer in there with a stock upper strut plate. Get the daystar ones and you're basically building a frankenlift. I dont see why it won't work. If it's too much ditch the clevis lift and/or the rusty's strut plate spacer. In the rear you should be fine. I'll be adding 1 more isolator.

As of now i have 35 1/2" from my fender flare to the ground in the front and about 36 1/2" in the rear. I know it's not the best way to measure but another guy on here somewhere had 37"+. I'm hoping to get at least 1" with the poly spacer and daystar upper strut plates. We'll see.

where did you find the daystar upper strut plate?

i think im just gonn do the coils shock 3 ring clevis and 2 rear isolaters and maybe the daystar over the clevis...clevis is really cheap tho lol

I dont know where to get the daystar upper strut plates i didn't do any of this yet. You can probably get them from all j's. Or find the part # and order them online somewhere. Lastly may have to order them through a daystar retailer. I dont know, I didnt get that far yet. I could of swore i saw on all j's site somewhere that they will sell you the pieces you need. I could be wrong because that was months ago and i can't remember what happened last week. :lol:

if the Rustys springs are sagged why are you using them, talk about a crappy ride

to tell you the truth the thing rides great, just lost a bit of it's height.

All of these lift experiements you have been reading have taken place of a long time. They were early attempts at finding out what works.

GREAT that you ask. But When I asked I was told OME has designed a KJ specific lift to work with the added weight of a all steel bumper up front and give a good lift without adding longer brakelines or upper A arms or what ever. The springs doo all the load work. the shocks make the ride heavenly.

okay thatnks for your help woody, and later could I add a rear isolater if needed?, and how much lift would I be looking at? i know it depends on how much yours is saggin but a rough estimate
