Anybody know where I can get just the glass piece or do I have to buy a whole new light? Where would the best place be to find one? Thanks. It is an '05.

I had the same problem and I was told that I need to replace the entire unit. So now I just have some clear tape on it and it's still working. But when I do replace I always feel like that's a great time to upgrade :D

Edit - Just relized you were asking about an '05. I have an '04, I'm not sure about the '05 which is different. but you can still upgrade :D

I had the same problem, except mine cracked from the inside.

From what I can tell, the light is in two parts - there's the Hella 500 part on the inside, and then the Jeep-branded fog light exterior (plastic with another glass lens)

If the inside part is the one that cracked, you can get a normal replacement from Hella (I think?) If the external one cracked, you might have to replace the whole set (which is HELLA expensive, don't mind the pun). I need to dismantle the busted fog light I have to verify, but I believe that the glass part I have should be in good shape and I could part with it for a pittance + shipping. I'll let you know what I find out once I get a chance to pull it apart.

i took a rock on 06 offroad light and a big hole was the outcome. so i tried to find a replacement from checker, autozone, hella website and nothing. all said i had to go to jeep for the replacement. so that is what i did. stealership charged me $56 for one replacement and to put it on you remove the plastic outer ring held on by 3 torx screws from the back and the light fixture pops out, you unplug, plug in the new one and replace the ring and screws. i ended up getting some clear 3M lense protectors afterwards cause i felt like i was bending over and grabbing my ankles and i did not want to go through that again.

That would be great. Let me know if you do have the glass part as I believe that is all I need. I don't really want to buy the whole thing if I don't have to. You can email me when you get a chance to let me know. nelsonrhonda@hotmail.com

I had the same problem on my '06. I posted a thread in the wanted to buy section and 05kjrenny was kind enough to tell me that they are the same as in the Rubicon. I found one on Ebay and am just waiting for it to arrive. When it does get here, I will do an intake mod so that I don't have to take the lights off twice to get my grill off.

Bad news - I just took apart the light I have and found that it's only one piece of glass - and it's cracked. Won't do you much good, unfortunately

Se7enLC, Thanks so much for checking. I do appreciate it. Here is a pic of the damage, must of been a pretty good sized rock. Around here, it is usually the windshields that get all busted up, already done that once (so far) on this rig. MonsieurGlen, can you point me in the right direction of how you found the deal on ebay? Thanks.

I guess I'm not sure exactly what I look for, the whole light assembly or can I actually just buy the glass front?

instead of trying to find a replacement for the lens just go buy a set of 500's at walmart for 50 bucks. Thats about how muck a replacement would cost you anyway.

I second that. I *believe* (but don't quote me on this), that you should be able to take a Hella 500, pull out the bulb assembly (with lens and all), and slap it right into the renegade light. I didn't test this before I threw away the broken pieces of my fog light, but if it doesn't work, you can still go ahead and install the hellas.

Try looking a Kc high lights .com. They have slim lights that look similar to the renegades. If not the same thin up grade. I put their 6 inch 130 watt ones in and hooked them to the brights. Man do the light up the road. :) Plus I put on a protective cover to keep the lights from becoming chipped. It was a clear protective cover. Can't remember the name now. it just sticks on. It is used on the front of cars also and you can get it in colors. Did my wifes lib fogs in yellow. Looks great.
