The actual mirror shakes in the housing. The black plastic housing doesn't shake.

Did you hit the mirror on something? To remove the whole mirror assembly, remove the inner door panel. Two screws, one in the armrest and one in the door level (remove clip). Once those are removed, the inner door panel is clipped on, start at one corner and remove clips. Then you need to remove the bolts that hold the mirror in place, there are 3.

If the mirror is broken, you have to replace the whole mirror assembly. I know it sucks.

this info on removal is helpful to me! i want to put in some little LED lights on the outside edges of my mirrors and run them to my turn signals. this unfortunately will have to wait until summer '08 though b/c it's too darn cold here!

I didn't hit anything on the mirror. It just does that for some reason. Funny thing is, I hit another truck mirror once on the passenger side, and that mirror is fine.

that sounds like a lot of work :(

It's not. The first time I took off one of my door panels I was uber cautious and it still only took about 15 minutes. Get yourself a very slim pry bar and gently pry the panel off (after removing the screws mentioned above). Start from the bottom. Once you know where all the clicky rivety things are it'll go faster. Reinstalling is even easier. :D

My divers mirror has been shaking since the day I picked it up... It's the actual motor and glass. You probably will not be able to repair this with simple tools.

I had a damaged mirror and tried to dissasenble the broken one after I'd replaced it. They are not made to be taken apart. I finally pried on it so much I actually damaged it pretty badly without getting it open.
