I was buzzing down rt 208 in NJ today in my MUDDY KJ when in my rear view I saw a yellow lifted TJ and all the kool gear hooked up to it. when he pulled along side me and slowed down, he gave my the thumbs up.

I thought it was kinda kool

Im a former KJ renegade owner, everytime I see one I try to wave. I get some strange looks sometimes in my Rubicon but most will wave back. We all drive jeeps here.

whenever I see a lifted kj, I wave(especially if muddy!!) Most don't wave back. I like to wave from the KJ to another but none ever wave back.......

since I drive from Northwestern Ohio to Southeasten Ohio almost every other weekend to see my wife I get to see a lot of lifted and other vehicles...if I leave on Friday afternoon almost every trip I pass a Black lifted Cherokee going the other way, at first no wave, after a few times just a look over my way, then to a nod and sort of a wave , now its up to flashing lights, wave out the window and everything...kind of funny...
I wave at any lifted or any vehicle for that matter that looks like it gets out and has fun!

I wave at every lifted KJ I see
and the chick that drive the blue Limited on MTR's waves back and blows kisses at me
as long as the guy who drives the black sport does not do it then we are OK
that is all we get as far as lifted KJ's

I now have a new mission
to get the FJ people and the Jeep people to get along
they seem to do OK but I want us all to just go wheel no matter what we drive

Great stuff right there! We are all in it together and when they close a trail they close it to all vehicles. We Have to start banding together and learning from and helping each other. It is all about the sport/hobby/pastime, not what you drive. We should change the "Jeep wave" to the "4x4 wave".

well at first they were like
"yeah right your wife drives a lifted 4wd Liberty?"
Then the guy who picked me up was like
"yes she does and it is bigger than my FJ and looked really cool"

Now I have to drive it to the next M&G they/we have
16 or so FJ's most on 33's and 1 KJ standing proud
best part of all is that it will be the "trail leader" if we meet at one of the local trail's

first i never see any lifted KJ around  ive heard there is one more in my area but i have yet to see it. second in my local club there is everything from Jeeps to Land Rovers to FJs to G waggons and we all get along and wheel together almost every week end. its also a prety large club. we also have a forum, but i tend to stay on here way more since they cant really help me with my KJ questions ( i have the only KJ, and they are all blown away at what it can do!!)

Great story! I think it’s really cool that we’ve taken the Liberty to a new level. I think LOST is a tight group of people because we take pride in the Jeep name and we depend on each other to learn. We are also the underdogs who are looking to have fun on the trails like everyone else. I think to send (or receive) a wave to (or from) another 4x4 vehicle is a sign of acceptance and a sign of building the bridges regardless of brand loyalty. As mentioned already, I think as 4x4 trails and other off-road areas come to battle for closure, we’ll see even a stronger merging of off-roaders regardless the type of vehicle we drive. For example, when you go to Moab, most everyone will help you regardless what you drive. I think off-roaders in general cherish the offloading and the outdoors over anything else.

I belong to a Jeep Club here in Saint Augustine and I'm the only KJ. So there are some comments, but I wheel down the same trails as they do. There are tons of KJ's here. It isn't unusual to see 5 or 6 in a day. It is rare to see one that is 4WD and I heard that there is a lifted one around here somewhere. I would be happy to wheel with anything just to get out and ride.

This reminds me of the day we were out for a drive in the Jeep. I tapped my girlfriend on her shoulder when I saw a JK and pointed at it, the guy in the JK waved back at me. That was actually pretty cool ;)

Both cars are stock though - jeeps nonetheless!! :D

Yea I know. I just can't seem to get enought time or a freaking weekend open. It is killing me having the FrankenZilla lift sitting in the boxz.

When I’m on the trail, I wave at anyone else on the trail, 4x4, quad, dirt bike, hiker, dog walker, Mt. Biker, what ever. When I’m on the road I wave at anyone with mud on their car, even it’s a stock VW bug (seriously, I’ve seen it!) I'll also wave or give a thumbs up to anyone with a lift. And I try to wave at any Jeep I see regardless but to be honest, living in Brooklyn, there are a LOT of Jeeps and most of the owners did not buy them for the reasons I bought mine and when I wave you can see this look on their face like, Do I know that guy? What’s wrong with that guy?

Jeepdawg, you have a lift and it’s not on yet? Hopefully by the next time I can get up to Twin Arches again you’ll have that thing set up. If you are planning on doing it yourself drop me a line and I can see if I can help you out one weekend. I’m not a mechanic and I am doing a lot work on my apartment so I don’t have a lot of free time but I’d love to help out if I have the time and you need the help. I might even be able to bring a few friends of mine who all used to ride together a while back and now we miss working on our bike so I’m sure they’d love to get their hands dirty again.

let me know too when you want to lift that thing. I'd be up for lending a few turns of the wrenches.
