ILFWDA has been defunct for a couple years now, and had problems before that. A lot of those clubs don't exist anymore. I've been trying to make contacts here and there to see if I can help get it back going. I know that Wisconsin's United 4WD association has been very successful in uniting the state's clubs and getting some cool initiatives going like the new trails being built at Mole Lake Resort in the Northwoods and another possible offroad park on state land.

I'm pretty active with local clubs these days and I'd estimate that half of the ones listed there are gone, and of the rest, most of their members also belong to one of the major ones like Terra, GLJT, TIJA, SIJA, 4xFools and Two Rivers. Firewalkers was once an influential club, but I hear they have become largely inactive as a group, with many of their members looking elsewhere to join in on 'wheeling trips.

Right now myself and some others are working with Extreme Jeep in McHenry to get a new club up and running, and we have some enthusiastic people so things are going well. http://www.extremejeepclub.com

In my experience a lot of clubs stagnate here because of the lack of different 'wheeling opportunities without overnight trips. There are those of us around that are trying to get the 4x4 community back together in the area so hopefully things will change.
