Post subject: Disk brake parts/'05 3.7 parts vehicle in Cincinnati!
PostPosted: Tue Feb 05, 2008 5:12 pm
Hey, was wondering if anybody knew off the top of their head what parts I was going to need for my rear disk conversion from this '05 parts vehicle...IIRC TJKJ said backing plates, calipers, rotors, caliper brackets...that much is fairly obvious...and the E-brake cable, too.

Anybody need anything from it? I think it was hit hard in the left rear quarter panel. They're asking $1500 for the whole shebang, too.

you would also need the proportioning valve set up and maybe master cylinder as well besides what you have mentioned. I would get everything I could. Not sure on the master cylinder, you could call a parts store to see if different #s . but for sure proportioning valve to adjust from drum to disc. Also brake lines from wheel to dist. block on rear diff.

Just got home will do some more checking shortly

what kind of interior in it? color?

Good call Tom, I forgot all about the lines. Just FYI...the interior is gone, the guy had an '05 Rennie he assembled for his wife that had an interior fire, in case anybody had the brilliant thought (like me) to snag the seats

id like to get the plastic mid-door trim piece from both side. this is the piece that has "liberty" molded into it on the 05+ models. i believe there are 4 parts all together: 1 for front door, 1 for back, repeat for the other side. if you end up taking stuff off for other people it would be great. but, if its a hassle, no big deal! :D

Jer, I'll see about that too. the guy should be calling me back in the next half hour or so. I would snag them for myself, but I'm pretty sure my beat up paint with the brand new paint underneath the LIBERTY emblems that are there now would look like poop:)

ha ha. yeah, im considering that as a possibility as well... but, gonna give it a try anyway. my goal is to get all the 05+ badges and those trim pieces in there. also put on the LOST Trail Tested Badge that ive had laying around. i think it looks way better with the chunkier new badges for sure. when i do all of this im gonna clay bar and maybe anti-swirl while all the badges are removed, so maybe i'll get it looking ok.

The master cylinder should be fine since there are no seperate chambers for F/R brakes in our master cylinders. As far as the proportioning valve you can just take a o-ring out of the drum brake one(under the plug on the valve) to allow more fluid to go to the rear, same psi just more fluid. If the '05 donor KJ has ABS then you can't use it's proportioning valve as it should be intergrated with the ABS pump/controller.

i would deinitely do that! take as much off as you can for 1500 bucks and then just scrap it! then just keep an eye on the wanted forum, and if somebody needs somethin youll prob have it, and make a nice profit off the 1500 ;)

even at 1500 the book value on a 05 could very much make it worth while

I don't feel like undertaking any other projects, and I just don't have the room for it, or the disposable cash at the moment, either. Had I all those, I would've wanted to drag it home right away:P

No, and I'm a little perturbed about it, really. I was really lookin forward to puttin disks on the rear...I HATE doing drum brakes, and it needs stoppies out back before too terribly long.

http://cincinnati.craigslist.org/pts/561972632.html is the ad, so feel free to call...last two times I've called I got a busy signal. Dangit!
