A few cases of Quaker State Synthetic 5W50 oil came into my store as a picking error for another item, and they will be discounted. I had toyed with the thought of buying it and running Synthetic in my Liberty. What are your thoughts to switching from regular 5W30 oil to a 5W50 synthetic? What are the pros and cons to switching up, besides obvious reasons, such as less breakdown of the oil, better protection and lubrication. Any help would be great to assist my decision whether to bother or not. Maybe I will just stay with the regular old 5W30?? Thanks.

I would never run Quaker State in anything seen too many motors all with major amounts of sludge, maybe the syn is a little better, but there is a lot of good other syns out there that I would trust, no matter the price

Gotta agree with this. QS and Pennzoil always had more buildup than any other oil. I used to work in an engine shop, rebuilding ... Certainly opened my eyes. That was years ago before anyone had heard of synthetic though. My boss on that job could tell what kind of oil a person ran just by popping their valve covers off.

For regular oil then, what brand would you guys recommend?? I usually just take my Libby to the local auto shop, and they change it. The oil has never been one particular brand in my Jeep.

I have used Mobile 1 syn for years now with most of my vehicles going up into the 175/200,000 without a problems at all. My 95 Cherokee is at over 265,000 and never been torn down . Amsoil of course is great as well

I dont use the quicky places you never know what they may drop in there!I dont like switching brands of oil either
