Great! Add me for a kit and then to ufo's list for assembly. PM me all the info on cost and where to send the dough please.

The right plug did not come with the kit, and it costs about $8 in materials. If anyone wants just a plug, I'll build one for $10 plus shipping.

If anyone wants me to build their new kit, I will offer the following two options:

I will do all the soldering and internal wiring, including cutting the wires to length and crimping the connector pins for $50 shipped. This will include a bench test to ensure proper component installation. I will also make a completely built, road tested, ready to install kit including color-coded, sheathed 5 foot harness and bypass plug for $175 shipped. LocoCRD will ship directly to me if you want, he will also forward assembly funds to me if you want to pay only one person.

I have the SEGR installed right now and loving it.
My question is. Is there a life expectancy on the big
gold resistor? It looks like it is the only working
part and if it were to go bad, I might be interested in
another build just for a back-up??

That resistor is not going to go bad. The component that has the shortest life span is the large capacitor, which will eventually dry out. But that really will not affect the operation of the box. It should last the life of the vehicle at a minimum.

Not unless LocoCRD is changing the new kit. It is currently extra -- you need a connector and 6 more pins.

Loco, please consider including at least the hardware needed to make the bypass plug in the new kit. This is something probably everyone will get use out of, and it will be cheaper/easier to order the batch once than to have a bunch of people order one-offs and pay shipping.

He is not killing you on that plug. I paid 2.40 for the
plug. 5.60 for pack of ten pins. Sales tax and shipping on
top of all that.
Fact is I paid more for the parts than UFO is charging.
Just looked at my receipt so Hello.

Hi Steve,

UFO's price is very fair. I am just asking that the hardware be included in the original kit for those who choose to build their own kit. Even if UFO builds it, according to your numbers he's not making anything on them, and it will just save him the extra trouble too.

I wish if I had it to do all over again that UFO could
have done the complete as he is offering now. Back than
he just soldered the board.
I had to buy my wires to the harness(they are not color
coded as he is doing them now. I bought blue, yellow and red
put my own stripes on them and than had to deal with that when hooking
up my red wire to the harness Drk/blu/grn stripe, Blah Blah.
I was constantly referring back to my papers on my colors and comparing
them to what I was hooking into.
Life gets simpler as we get into more of these projects.

So...without going back and reading this entire thread....is someone now building these? Way back when, you had to put them together yourself, which I don't know how to do.

Hi Chad,

UFO has kindly agreed to help folks with that. See this thread.

On the previous page of this thread I listed the assembly options I'm offering for the new kit. $50 for soldering and wiring of the SEGR box. $175 for a complete tested assembly including a 5 foot harness. I also will supply anyone with a built bypass plug -- $10 plus shipping.

LocoCRD,

$85 is fine. What this will do for my wife's CRD it's well worth it. Please keep me on the list.

I'm comfortable with the soldering, and such, so sending it directly to me is best.

UFO,

Though I'll build the SEGR/ORM myself, I'd like one of your bypass plugs.

Please let me know how to pay you, and I'll let you know where to send it.

My state doesn't currently do emissions testing, but I've moved many times in my life. It would pay to have one of these handy.

Thanks!

MirageX
