ok.. i've gone back to the original plan... when my tax return comes i'll be ordering the Detroit locker for the rear and DTT for the front... thanks everyone for the information and help!..

a ARB is just too expensive for me (poor college kid).. between the locker, air compressor, hoses ect... then installation it's over my limit. either way i cant wait to get some lockers in it!!!!!!

Hey guys,

I've been reading your posts, but this is my first reply. I have also been looking into either a DTT or a EZLocker.

I had a few questions...

1. How loud is the clicking? Is it bothersome?
2. I had a LSD in my old Nissan, that I wore out. How tough is the DTT?
3. Can I put them in myself? Do they both need to be re-shimmed?

Thanks. -Mario

1)With the TT there is no clicking at all, seemless action
2)The TT is gear driven so no clutches to wear out, will probally out last the KJ,and no special friction modifier needed.
3) If you know how to set-up a ring and pinion then yes you can install it yourself,it is a complete carrier replacement(TT only),I believe the EZ locker is a "lunch box" locker and only replaces the spider gears and is junk(my opinion).

Lunchbox lockers (ez-locker, no-slip, lock-rite, aussie) aren't junk, they're just not as strong as a detroit full case locker. However, the only one that is available for the rear of a KJ is the no-slip and it's over 400 bux!! Still better than setting up gears, but if you're going to change them anyways, go detroit full case.

lunchbox lockers do click around corners, but it's not that bad. It just means that it's unlocking. I don't find it annoying at all.

I have two rigs, both of which I DD, one has an aussie in the rear, and it's sometimes a little noticable when I high the gas hard. Other than that, I hear clicking around corners at low speeds. Doesn't bother me. The detroit doesn't make any noise, only chirps tires when I hit the gas around a corner fast. It actually engages/disengages more smoothly, less suddenly, than the aussie. I love both and would recommend both to anyone.

I will argue this into the ground
Power Trax SUCK
I broke 2 of them back to back on easy trails
Now if you ask me 2 for 2 is JUNK
after a little talking I got a full cash refund and put in a Detroit
I will NEVER put any thing but a Detroit or an ARB in the rear of any rig and I would go TT or ARB in the front of a KJ

This may be the best money you have spent yet on your Jeep
I ran some of the hardest trails yet with my Detroit ,rated 4+ out of 5, and other than a lack of traction I love it
now all I need is some bead locks so I can go down to 8 psi because 12 just is not quite low enough

Like it says "it will never let a wheel stop turning"
I would like to know what you think of it in the KJ
I have one in the TJ and I found that even with the wheels turned full lock on a dry street it is still quiet and smooth
now if you are on and off the gas it does "wag" but not real bad and the "wag" may be from the Swampers and Detroit combined ,IDK

i just dropped it off at the shop tonight. bought 3 quarts of mobil1 gear oil, and i will have him get the shim kit and bearings for the diff. he said i could buy them or just have him buy em, i figured it would be easier foir him to get them, he would know exactly what he needs. it will be around 300 with the bearings and labor and all that. if i had the bearings and shims etc he said it would be around 200 or so. but those were just abouts, he said 200-300 depending on if i have the bearings/shims etc. so i cant wait, he said i will have it back tomorrow :) ill probably test it out tomorrow too, theres a little trail near me that i usually go to, my friend knows a friend that owns it lol

i just tried it out on this little trail, its awesome!!! i didnt even have to use 4wd. even on the street you can hear the tires scrubbing/squealing and sometimes chirp, but if your easy on the gas its not bad at all. it doesnt make any noise at all and i drove around a lot tonight, no clunking or clicking that i can hear, but if you are stopped and go to make a tight turn, you can feel it lock up and the tires make noise. overall, i totally recommend this!! the total was 395 to install it, that was with labor and him buying the bearings, bearing races, shims, and outer axle seals included in that price. i wish i had the money to get 4.10's but i dont have big enough tires to need that right now, eventually ill get a 245-75-16 and maybe ill get them then, but that wont be for at least a couple years probably till i get those gears
