20 miles short of warranty finally got check engine light.....stopped at dealer and they changed out ACV. I've been running stock and trying to keep good fuel with additives(PD) to keep her best shape with going mod route.......well friends, time to roll up sleeves and start getting to it!

Now, I've watched this forum over the last two years and learned a ton. But I've also watched mods with different reactions from different folks. ie, 'that one really doesn't help', etc, etc.

My question, what are the top and cheapest :D mods that I get going that are the most effective to prolonging the life of my rig?

Thanks in advance,

WWV

1) Install a lift pump pick an option and do it.
2) Unplug the MAF, ignore the CEL and build or buy the SEGR kit, with fuel prices crowding $4 or more, a few extra MPG helps ease the pain at the pump.

3) Do the EHM: only costs about 4 ft of 3/4" heater hose and a 3/4" plug.

1) EHM...Elephant Hose Mod

2) Amsoil Air Filter...add a 2002 AirBox if you have water inlet problems

3) Unplug MAF...ignore CEL...save for SEGR (this mod does more than just help driveability...helps the condition of your oil, saves your EGR, reduces IAT,ect)...So in a way it is the cheapest overall mod you can do.

4)Tackle the Fuel Delivery Gremlins

5)Suncoast TC down the line

Having owned a Jetta TDI I can tell you we're going to have a serious intake clogging issue even as low as 60k miles  But before that you'll most likely benefit from a lift pump. If your CRD runs like it's starved for fuel it is  All the electrics are there for a electric pump. In the tank Cummins is my goal but for now have a Facit (sp?) mounted up front. :D

If you have not done so... add a muffler to this list. Stock muffler is crap (restrictive).
