Hi guys, i did my usual check up on the kj and looked at the air filter on it and its starting to get dirty and full of little crap in it. It is a k&N air filter, came with the jeep when i bought it in august. I am looking into replacing it with a new filter, what would you guys recommend as a good replacement for it?

I was looking to go down to the parts store today and pick one up.

Amsoil Eaa201 of course.

Wix if you are just looking for a throw-away filter that does a good job.

cheap paper filter has done me fine, K&N sucks. I have a K&N on my bike...but it doesn't see much use. Otherwise, it'd have a GOOD filter in it:)

Just making sure, you know you can clean the K&N, right?

I don't see these on the site, do they have rechargable ones for the KJ there? Not sure how to find filters for the KJ on the site.

Eaa201 is the number you can plug into their search box. It is a cleanable/reusable filter. No cleaners required and no oil either.

Yes, it would be much cheaper to just clean the filter. However, the nano-fiber media that amsoil uses is much better at filtering and more efficient. It's also easier to clean as it does not require oiling as w/the K&N. i just swapped my K&N for the Amsoil for those very reasons.

Also if you do much offroading you may want to consider a pre-filter. It's just a jacket that slips over the filter for added protection in harsh environments (i.e. excessive dust, mudding, etc.). The pre-filter for Amsoil's K&N replacement for the liberty is also treated to resist water so it reduces the chance of soaking the media and taking in water (hydro-lock). Won't make a dif though if you go submarine.

Just food 4 thought.

problem solved, i got a free filter today. a K&N one thats made for mine. Came in and was missing the warranty stickers and all the paperwork but the filter wasnt even out of the packaging and we were told to throw them away. Went and looked up the number and its the one for the kj, so got a $40 filter for free, yay

it was free and the other one was REALLY dirty, even after cleaning it it was all black around the edges and about 100 little bugs inside of it.
