No vent or Provent

I finally got around to removing the crankcase vent hose that feeds dirty hot air into my turbo, I plugged the old hose and added a hose to let the crankcase vent out side. Has anyone else done this? What is the down side? If I need a Provent where and how much are they?

Lots of people have done this, they call it the EHM or elephant hose mod. The Provent will keep the oil drips out of your engine compartment or driveway. I made my own "provent" using PVC pipe, and draining the liquid into a catch tube. I can drain this tube at oil change.

This my friend is what is coming out of your CCV puck. You can let it out or run back thru the system
Don't think so. That hose was clear. Provent or homemade is fine as long as this doesn't run
back thru you tractor.

How did it got so dirty ? I ve only rode 1k miles with the ehm and is varely greyish inside. There are a few drops of oil inside the hose next to the ccv, but no where near that dirty !

may be my ccv is broken or stuck closed?

Thats normal, mine was clear/greyish for a long time. Its black and dripping now.

That picture above has like 6,000 mile on it or so. Could pull
paper work and tell you exactly but it is still the same &&&. different day
My friend. that junk does not need to run thru your turbo, intercooler, hoses
etc.
Lots of very smart people on this Forum( I am not one of them).
Listen to them and your CRD will be smiling

Anyone know offhand what size hose is required for our CCV puck?

I bought the 2" PVC, Hose and Fittings, so much to do and too little time. I like the location to the right of the radiator inter-cooler for the 2" PVC. Will post pics when done.

If using 3/4" hose it helps to put the hose end in boiling water for about 1 minute before sliding over puck fitting and 3/4" fittings.

Check out the TDIWagonGuy CCV filter below (it is what I bought). Chrispitude helped him develop the design (see photos below).

Should be fairly easy to replicate (I bought two of them from him to save time), or you can buy one for $50 bucks shipped and save the hassle.

I confess my TheTDIWagonGuy filter is still sitting in the box. I think the hardest part is figuring out how to cleanly install it next to the radiator! Does anyone have any clever ideas on how to do this? (No zip ties allowed!

Best spot I found is on the vacuum modulator for the VGT/VNT turbo. The little thing sitting behind your airbox. You can drill it and make thread for the filter there.

i took angle aluminium put a hole in it and cut/filed it to shape, then used
a worm gear clamp to hold the canister to the aluminum. mounted it to the
top bolt to the fan shroud. slit it behind the plastic tab and put the bolt
back into place. works good. i also super glued a thin piece of ribber on
to the angle aluminum in case there was any rattling.

should have taken pics... i can draw something up if you want.

here is both..... crude but both

here is a pic installed... i might have to rethink my filter media (it is a SOS type
dense steel wool, and a less dense pot scrubber)

here is the crude drawing, the material is 1.5" angle aluminum, there is a top view,
below that is the side where the filter attaches, next to that is from the front. the 2
parts on the lower pics where it looks like i messed up and forgot to draw the cut
out is not a mistake.. on the bracket i just filed down the corner so that the worm
gear clamp would go through. if the drawings aren't workin for ya let me know and
i will take it out and get actual pictures.

this bracket holds it tight and more towards the front of the vehicle, space is much
more limited than i thought in there, my first one used the angle the other way and
held it out in mid air but i didn't like the looks of it. and i wouldn't pant the canister if
i did it again... and i am with my little brother's.

No vent or Provent
