Ok, I promised I would post photos of my 'Riot once I installed the Rocky Road lift kit. I haven't had time to measure its current clearance nor have I installed the tires yet. But here's what it looks like:

Tomorrow I'll get a photo with the measuring tape showing its new clearance (for the official record). I have an appointment wed. to get it aligned and I'll install the 245's Thurs or Firday.

and by no means was I scared away... just busy at and with work.

Haha, did you name it the 'riot' after everyone went crazy in that thread?

Looks good! Glad you got a lift on it! Tires should make it look alot better. :)

First lifted Patriot I have seen. Looks real good. It kinda looks like an updated version of an XJ now that it is taller. I like it. I can't wait to see it with the bigger tires. How does it ride with the lift?

I haven't had a chance to get it aligned (first available appointment was wed.) but it seems to drive darn near the same. I just took it out and got it up to about 60mph, it does seem to pull a little to the right but I am sure that will be fixed on wed. It's nice not to be looked down on by Xterra's and other similar sportutes... :D

Those look like a 4.5 B.P. Is that correct?

Not hatin', just wondering:

It looks like the tallest factory tire on the Patriot is 28". The lift info seems to say it is 2"? You are going to a nearly 31" tire if you are using a 245/75. What rubbing/clearence issues do you forsee, if any? Or are you usuing a different aspect ratio to stay closer to 29-30"?

InCommando, yes 4.5 bp would be correct. Again those are currently the offroad tires from the factory and they are 28" in diameter and are 8.6" wide. the RRO lift is 2.25" (close enough) correct again. I am actually installing 245/65R17's which have a 29.5" diameter and will be 9.6" wide. Other people on the 'net have installed 245's that are reported by the manufacturers to be wider than the ones I will be installing and they rub at full lock on the inside near the frame at the rear of the front tires. I researched to find a tire that is supposed to be slightly more narrow (something like .15-.25") so it shouldn't rub.

Here is a photo showing how and where others have rubbed:

I measured the ground clearance today and here's what I have before mounting the tires:

Image

a full ten inches?!

Your going to be sadly suprised when you end up with less then 9"-10" on tha Patriot. They got like maybe 7" of clearance right now,and those tires are only 29" tall, about a 1/2" gain over the OEM ones as far as lift.
Now I have no idea how you knew this since the Patriot started with 8.5" and I installed a 2.25" lift. But your right the math just isn't working out in the real world... Mathmatically it should be sitting at 10.75" but real world its sitting at an even 10"

Now trust me I am not complaining because it looks good and still handles well. I just do not understand the math behind it. So originally I said it would have 11.5" but now it looks like once the tires are mounted it will be sitting 10.5 to 10.75"

All this isn't bad considering I am still getting 27.5 mpg after the lift but before the alignment! Refilled and drove around today just to check.

27.5 mpg's..........ohhh myyyy godddd. i would absolutely die to get that gas mileage!!!! that is so great that u can work ur vehicle into an offroad machine and still maintain such great mileage. u almost double the average mileage on the liberty. i am so jealous of those numbers man! how is the power on that motor...it has something like 170hp or something right??

Yes, supposedly the K&N aircharger adds like 10 horsepower... and it does feel like it... I test drove the CVT and hated it. The thing was loud and felt rather slow... which is why I bought the 5 speed non-trailrated. With the 5spd the power is ok and I truly think it would have kept up with the Durango that was traded in for it. Although it lacks a little torque. If they do indeed release a CRD Patriot in the US I'll surely trade this 'Riot in on one.

I just got back from the store. While I was there I was parked next to a Liberty KK and damned if it wasn't with in a 3/4" in over all height! Wished I wouldn't have forgotten my phone (didn't want to be bothered on my day off) or I would have snapped a quick shot.
