Greeting to all members. I am kind of new here. I had a few posts a while back, but I guss I let the membership run out. Anyway. I wanted to post a question to liberty owners. I recently had a brake in to my jeep, I was lucky that nothing was taken. My girl fiend saw the person and scared them off before they could have gone further with it. I purchased a club for the steering wheel. I am considering getting a car alarm for my jeep, and was wondering if anyone who had one could suggest a good alarm system or a way to prevent another brake in.

Thank you again
Mark

Hi there,

Your membership didn't run out, the old site did! Glad you found us again.

Well I don't have an alarm...(please don't steal my Jeep now) but if I did I'd want one that lets you know on a remote when your alarm is going off. Not many people respond to a strangers alarm, and anyone watching your vehicle can easily wait until you're inside a large store or mall to break in knowing that you'd never hear your alarm going off. It just seems to me like it'd be way more usefull than one that just honks or yells at you. Anyone have one they can recommend?

Now if you're interested there's a membership forum further down the list here. You can choose from either a free membership or pay the small fee of $30 for a lifetime membership. The money goes back to the site, you get access to a lifetime members section only and a cool decal for your Jeep. Whichever way you go...have fun here!

CAKJ FREEDOM

Thanks for the info. Sad to say that the brake in happened in front of my own home. I live next to a mall, and when the guy was confronted he took off in that direction. They run over there and blend into the crowd to get away.

I will check into the membership area. Thanks again for the info.

I have the viper system installed from my local dealer,There is a flashing blue light which may deter break in"s,My only problem is that the viper remote will not open the rear glass like the factory stock remote does but I'm sure if you want it can be intergrated,The cost was about 275 dollars about 2 years ago.

The factory system works ok, But it would be great for it to tell me that its going off. It doesnt go off when the window is broken, but they always unlock the door then open it, thats the only time it goes off is when the door is opened, There is a red led that flashes. But im sure the viper system has a shock sensor, i would like that.

Thanks everyone. I think that I would lean a little bit more to the viper system myself. My girlfriend did not hear them brake in. The doors were locked, and they must have worked the locks open. mabey the shock detector would be a better way to go. That way the minute someone touches it I will know. One other question. I don't know if the viper does this or not. But, I have known people who have had alarm systems that have been set off when the weather gets cold. I don't know why. have you had this problem?

Thanks again

Mark

No, but my grandma had a Caddy whose horn would go off when it got cold. :? If you get a shock sensor one, please set it correctly so your neighbors don't hate you everytime a garbage truck or loud stereo goes by.

That was one of the things I was worried about. I live in town houses, and I don't want to upset the neighbors. I had a neighbor in college who's alarm would go off every time that it got cold out. (living in WV, that equals to every night.)

Thanks agin for the info.

I didn't know that; thought all car alarms had a shock sensors as a standard feature...never had a factory alarm until now, though, so what would I know?

This means people can totally destroy my KJ and not set off the alarm as long as they leave the doors closed.

So that's why they sell those EVS II Interior Theft Sensors...

All those "Why the heck do they sell these?!" & "Who would buy that?!" questions are slowly coming together as I read through all the forums.

Just something I ran across a few months ago, but I think you need an existing factory alarm.
