Oh how I love this thing! Driving my normal weekly routes I'm getting no less than 27MPG. This weekend traveling from Tampa, FL to Jax I was able to maintain 29+ MPG.

Just thought I'd share with others.

If you keep it at 70 or less you can get about 31. Also check your mileage against the computer some are pretty off and some seem to be close.

I'm betting that aslostasyou has a 05 also Us 06 owners just don't see that with any type of driving I filled up yesterday and 2/3rds of that tank were all highway driving under 70 and got my normal 22

Is the common theory that the 05-06 difference is in the ECM/TCM coding or a hardware change?

I average 23-24mpg in mixed driving, but on highway trips of 100+ miles I have topped out at 31.7mpg and got more than 600 miles on that tank. I can routinely hit the high 20's on my trips to Eugene and back to Seattle. Hand calculated of course.

November 05. Purchased in late January 06. Has all recalls/updates.

Mine was built in January 06. I know there were some transmission changes around the November 05. Did yours get a F37 recall or was it nutered at the factory?

on a trip last weekend to Florida I ran 3/4 of the way at 70mph and hand calculated I got just over 29mpg. My wife woke up after fuel and wanted me to drive a little faster...so i did. Doing between 79-83mph I got 23.5mpg which is what I ALWAYS get for my 30 mile trip into and from work each day, which is all highway.

If i had the patience I would see what I get at 60mph...I bet it would be some savings!

I would like to know what hand calculated means in ya'lls terms.
29 to 31 mpg hc?
Ever try to fill up and on the next fill up divide miles by gals.?
Best I am doing is right around 24 mpg, so if any of you have the
secret to success, please advise.
miles traveled: 381.7 gal used 15.958 = 23.9
Any body got a different way to figure it out, I would like to know.

i think they are referring to your way rather than the EVIC.
and i think the odo is still off a few percent. so some people
are going by GPS, or calculating in their err

I'm pretty sure it happened at the factory, the first recall I remember getting was the lower ball joints, and it didn't drive discernably different after that than it did before.

Mine is an 05 I never see that kind of mileage, 20-23 is my normal. Still better than the gas KJ I had 16 maybe 17. I think quality of fuel can vary enough to make a big difference. I had some B9 in Wisconsin once that yielded 29 mpg and I stayed under 65 because we were on 2 lane highway most of the time.

Build date on mine was 8/05.
Was notified on the F-37 recall and took it in.
Week and a half later I picked it up. Problems were:
ECM had internal failure. They replaced the ECM and still
had problems with the update loading from star.
What all went on during this time, they don't tell me. They could
jump it and get it running manually but wouldn't start on it's own.
I know they replaced the TC because when I checked the fluid
it didn't show on the dipstick.
Took it back and was there a hour or so for them to add the trans fluid
to where it belongs.

yup, that is it in a nutshell. My Odometer is 11% shy (tested against GPS and measured mile) so I add that 11% to the mpg.

what speed do you normally drive? i am ALWAYS doing 75-80 ob the highway (90% of my driving) and don't take it easy in the city and getting 23.5mpg 95% of the time..if lots of city on the fill it drops to 22.5 and if I slow down on the highway to between 65 and 70 I can always get 25.5-27 with some windless drives getting near that magical 30

I also don't often bother but if I add power service grey bottle I add ~1mpg.

I've got an 06 with a 08/05 build date. I get 23-24ish daily driving. I routinely hit 28 on highway trips. I got a high of 30.5 mpg going from VA to hilton head island last summer. Last week I took a 500 mile trip to southeast alabama and I got 28.5 (ULSD 60-75mph) going down and 27.8 (B34 70-80mph) coming back. Hand calculated. My odometer was around 3-4% different than the GPS.

Pretty much the same as me then. I will also add that I don't do any hypermiling tricks, to me they seem in some cases dangerous and in others of questionable advantage. Just straight up normal driving just like I used to drive my S-10 except now I'm aware of turbo lag when I am taking off from a start or merging.

I have an 06 and will get 20-25 in town depending on if I keep my foot out of the throttle.
On the highway I will get 25-30. 30 at highway speeds, 25 at interstate speeds.

My personal best was 35 when I had a good tailwind for a 300 mile trip.

My results are similar to yours. Worst I've seen (towing a trailer) is 18mpg in mostly stop and go traffic. Best I've seen was 30mpg all interstate miles with the cruise set on 70mph.

I typically get about 20mpg driving back and forth to work in rush hour. If I do any interstate driving at all, I get MUCH better mileage. Even towing my 6x10 utility trailer with my motorcycle loaded on it I see at least 24mpg on the interstate. If I'm not towing, I always see better that 27mpg on the interstate.

The little diesel RULES! My last tank of stop and go city driving with very little highway miles was 24mpg. It's getting warmer here, and I think that's why I'm seeing my mileage creep up. I got 489 miles on 20.1 gallons on my last tank. Funny how the tank is supposed to be a 20 gallon tank, and I filled up as soon as the low fuel light came on and it held 20.1 gallons. Humm......

Of course, I do typically top off all the way to the top of the filler neck so I can get consistent mileage calculations. I let the foam go down, then top off, let the foam go down, then top off, and so on, until it won't hold any more fuel.
