The other day I went to pass a couple of slower vehicles and at around 85 or so, I felt minor vibration. Any ideas?? Thanks

How long since you had your tires rotated and balanced?

Also tire related....Do you still have the OEM tires? In AZ, we cruise at 85 and mine did that until I put on the Coopers.

This vibration sure feels to be in the drivetrain. I don't feel it at all in the steering wheel. I replaced the OEM with Michelin LTX M/S about 20k miles ago. I rotate the tires every 2500 miles, but will get them balanced again soon just to rule that out. Jinstall, is your driveshaft unbalanced?? Any others with this problem?

Mykol,

Go here:

http://www.gsp9700.com/

and find a Hunter GSP9700 road force machine near you. Ask specifically for a road-force balance. It's worth the money, but you may wish to call around and check the prices of road-force balancing. If you still have a vibration you will be absolutely sure it's not the tires.

I use this balance on all my vehicles, and will never go back to conventional dynamic balancing again.

Did you put wheel locks on? This caused a high speed vibration on mine.

I noticed this as well with the Jeep (McGuard) locks.

Mine is 100% Driveshaft. I cannot find a place here that balances driveshafts.

One of the higher-ups at Daystar rode in my libby the other day and asked about the driveline vibe. Its the front butterflies on the driveshaft. Was kinda embarassing...

Try taking the drive shaft off and rolling it on a smooth flat surface. A very slight bend will be noticeable. It is most likely bent and will need a new shaft. If it is true it can be balanced, but you'll need to find a shop that replaces the shaft... they'll have the tools to balance it.

There's a place around thomas and grand but I doubt that will be much help... A friend used to work at the following:
Precision Drive Lines of AZ
3225 West Osborn Road Phoenix, Arizona 85017
Phone: (602) 269-1355
