So, I'm tyring to mount my new ARB bumper on a 2002 KJ, and everything looks good until Step 14: "Fit mounting system to front crossmember of vehicle and centralize sideways." The problem: I have no part that looks anything remotely like the "mounting system" that they show in the photo. I've got the bumper itself, and one box of parts that has the washer bottle shield, fog light surrounds and the plate that covers the winch opening and a bag of hardware.

Can anybody tell me how the mounting system is supposed to be packed, and approximately how big it is? Was there another box I'm missing? I thought it might be in with the bumper, which was wrapped up like a mummy in cardboard and plastic. But when I got it open, there was nothing but the bumper in there.

I'm seriously bummed right now. This is NOT convenient.

The mounting system is a fairly lage piece of metal, not as big as the bumper of course, but still a good hunk of metal.

Contact ARB Seth here on LOST and tell him and even send him pics of the parts you did get. Did you buy it NEW from a retailer?

If so then also contact them and let them work it from their end.

If you bought it used, good luck. The mounting system is available for purchase from ARB as a spare part, but be ready for the price. It aint cheap. Might make the deal you got if you purchased used seam like a real pisser.

Good luck.

Thanks for the reply. I bought it new but had to pick it up, so it was taken out of the one big shipping box so it would fit into the back of the Jeep. I thought everything that came out of that box went into my KJ but I was just watching and not involved so I don't know for sure. It either wasn't in the box or was overlooked and I didn't get it. I got the bumper and one box of other parts and hardware. It looked from the instructions like a pretty good hunk of metal, so I'd be surprised if it got thrown away by mistake. I'm gonna call them once they open this morning and take it from there. But it was a week or so ago, so I don't have a lot of hope that it's still around.

They would not of thrown a big chunk of metal like that out unless they have no idea what they are doing, its not like a little brace or something. If they don't have it make them get it cause either it was not in the box or they did throw it away. You bought a complete bumper

Go back and ask them and get the part. Its not like it was a discounted model or something because it was missing parts, you paid for new, you should get new and all the parts that come with accordingly. Go back and get it. Do it in person otherwise you might get a run around. Hopefully the shop you deal with is a good one otherwise you might be s.o.l.

Thanks for the responses.

It's a good shop, very reputable. I'm not gonna say which one cuz thing have a way of taking on a life of their own on the Internet and I don't want them to get any bad rep out of it. I called and they're gonna talk to ARB about getting a replacement sent to me.

In my original post I was just trying to get some idea of whether the part was as large as it looked to be from the instructions (it was, and there's no way anybody accidentally threw it out) and to see if anybody knew exactly how it was packaged, i.e. wrapped up with the bumper or separately (to help me figure out where to look for the umpteenth time).

Anyhow, it seems pretty obvious now that it just wasn't there to begin with. The guy at the shop said it should come wrapped up with the bumper. The bumper was all shrinkwrapped in gray plastic, obviously never opened, so the thing couldn't have fallen out or been removed.

Just lousy timing cuz I've already torn the old one off. I knew I should check first, but I couldn't really open the new one till the old one was off, for lack of space to work in my garage. And since the old one was already damaged from a minor accident, I took it off like it was never going back on. So now the KJ pretty much has to sit until the new part comes. No idea yet when that will be.

And so it goes.

Here is what it look like:

Not exactly like this cuz this is for an 05-07 bull bar:

Shiny Black part, yours would have been powder coated grey

One other small item.

That piece that is missing is not light as a feather. Make sure they don't try to double dip ya for the shipping.

Good to know people take care of their customers. Hope it all works out. Post the finished product when done. :)
