FYI the NV3550 or NSG380 will boltup to our engine no problemo.

The dual mass flywheel and clutch will be pretty expensive.

There was never a Bosche EDC16 US-Spec flash for a MT Jeep. The older Bosche EDC15 MT is not compatible with our engine either. Just leaving the TCM connected or disconnected is not an option either. To that end the only option we would have would be to get a Euro EDC16 MT ECU and clone ours to it via someone with the right equipment(read inmotion).

This leads to some other problems, our EFI setup is not quite the same as the Euro, things like the EGR and such are a little different, which could cause problems.

I think $10k is reasonable, but may take it all and stick it in my CJ7.

I wanted a manual when I was looking to buy.

For all the off-roading I do-- I think I am actually happier with the auto as shifting offroad is just one more thing to worry about. The upgrade parts path for it is:

1. Suncost
2. Transgo
3. Cluth packs
4. Extra cooling
5. Custom Programming

1-4 are taken care of. That just leaves 5. I think solving 5 will eventually be doable. When we can get rid of F37 and make the trany shift how and when we want- I will be happy. So the real question for many is doing 1-5 cheaper than swapping a manual?

I selected the last option. If I didn't live in a major metro area, I would have selected the manual option.

I tow with mine and so far no complaints with what I've thrown at it.

1. I don't want to be the guinea pig
2. I want it to be like it was made with a manual.... not in a DC way (f37ed/held together with duct tape and bubble gum)
3. I want the gearing to be like the auto ~2k rpm @ 70mph
4. Needs to pass the AZ Maricopa emissions test.
5. Traction control and abs functional.

I have my jeep paid for. The warranty is up. Is there anything else out there that would be like this? If it had a manual, I would consider keeping it. I am concerned that the cost would go over $10k USD... changing drive shaft lengths, gears, and finding the right parts can add up.

NSG380 $500-1000
Clutch/flywheel - $800-1000
KJ master/slave pedal etc $500-1000
Reuse Tcase/driveshafts: free
ECU ~ $500-800 new overseas

I think it could be done for 5k with a fairly large margin for error.

10K is a huge margin for error

Would a SFA conversion not be cheaper than a CJ swap? If that is what you are going for.

Still dunno what a CJ swap is......

Would that be where you swap a CJ hood onto a liberty? Or a Coral Jet front end conversion? Maybe its a Chris Jenson conversion.......

Put the liberty drive train in my cj7...

Just changing the transmission doesn't get us there... well maybe some people would be happy. I want the rpms down to 2k at 70mph. The final drive is 0.67 on the auto and 0.87 on the stick from the FSM. Is the diesel trans different? Don't forget the misc interior pieces... junk yard maybe a cheap find with the pedal assembly?

Ah so a CRD swap.....

3.55s would go a long way to get your gearing right.

3.55s are common for the 8.25 rear end.
