If not for getting over the flu Wed-Fri the wife and I would have been there. Was just not up to it as of Friday nite.

Who is going to Haspin tomorrow? ThunderbirdJunkie and the wife and I will be there around 9.

Yeeee hawww you all made it on TV, channel 7 splashed a bunch of Jeeps on the screen at 18:12 o'clock this Saturday, the meteorologist said something about this weather-perfect event and how dedicated Jeep riders are to the good cause.

Go relay for life

(I submitted my excuse for not making it... hey someone had to stay on the couch to scan the local channels... I missed something big)

I just saw some Jeeps on the 11:00 news. The news anchor started off saying, "The rain came as welcome news to some in Miami Valley, it made a muddy mess at the Miami County Fair Grounds."

BTW, I called John on his KJ jest (nicely and with the assumption that it WAS a jest), and got back something from him...

John wrote:
I probably should have been more careful - wouldn't have made the remark if I truly believed it. We have wheeled with KJ's on more than one occasion and they always hold their own. And there was certainly more than one Wrangler getting strapped Saturday. I mean if you wanted to be technical, one of the Wranglers broke (clutch linkage) before it even got to the playground. So please let everyone know that the remark was in pure jest. Lord knows I have been strapped/winched in our Rubicon on more than one occasion - most often a driver issue.

There two ironies in this. The first is that my wife and I have owned 3 KJ's - including a diesel, and the second is that we will wheel with anyone who is interested in our style of wheeling, mostly long trail rides with a mixture of obstacles. Our only real criteria is that folks wheel safe and sane. No matter who we wheel with or what they are driving, we always learn something.

So please accept my apologies and do come back again next year.

BTW - we raised just at $4,000 direct donations for Relay for Life - and with various matching funds should top over the $5,000 mark. Given the rain and whatnot - that says alot about the Jeep community.

John

Thanks Moose for saying something, its not like we are not used to it, but having it thrown up when most of us traveled way further than anyone else, we should of gotten some respect just for that alone! There were alot being pulled off that one spot but OH well its part of the game

Also as I was over on the logs spotting and watching everyone come through, I have to say the KJs were going over the logs easier than the SFA Wrangler/CJs/Cherokees were, they would bounce where the KJs were smoother going over, well except for Ray but thats another story in it self! would of been interesting to have a video of one of each to show side to side.

Thanks again to Moose for some great food back in the back, will drive it again just for that!!

I wish it was not battery powered, have to start looking for a chassis with gas motor to power it!

now that is nothing more than bad a...... well you know. Very nice! Never got into the RC always wanted to but never did, I collect models of what I own or have owned, found the KJ at a yard sale, thought it was pretty cool in the details, brought it home cut off the big front bumper, painted the wheels etc. Conversation piece and makes my wife just shake her head

Maybe I will leave it to you in my will!!!

Tom
