 Post subject: tranny problems has anyone had any luck getting them fixed

I have an 06 that the tranny shudders and seems like maybe it doesn't have enough line pressure to shift correctly. I took it back once and they put a new torque converter in and said they fixed it but it still does the same thing. Have any of you gotten yours fixed either by Jeep or a private garage and what did they do. I really like my crd but this is starting to really bother me.

Have you noted when it happens?
Mine shuddered at 50-60 mph.
A fuel lift pump helped me out.
Jeep detuned the motor to extend the life of the chitty torque converter.
Breathe a little power into the motor and toast the T/C, search up Suncoast or go to CRD Tech to learn more.

Mine did that since day one. Sometimes it would do it so bad the whole thing would slam stutter shift (falling out of gear and violently re-engaging).. I swore it was transmission and was what you described (line pressure low).

Anyway, I noticed it got better burping the fuel line. Still not totally better, but better. Since the lift pump and Suncoast it has not shuddered once. It has dropped out of gear a couple times on the highway, but someone here discovered why-- if you leave a ODBII scanner plugged in (in this case my scanguage) it will occasionally lock up the TCM and it will reboot, throwing the thing out of lockup. So I don't drive with it plugged in anymore. Pitty, it was really handy.

I am still skeptical that things are right, after all I have gone through with it. So the trans is in a diesel transmission shop right now getting the filters changed, new fluid, and a shift kit. If they see anything amiss with it, I am sure they will let me know. I figure it is better to get it looked at while it is still in warranty (for a bit longer).

Ditto here, mine felt like it was running out of fuel :roll: You need a lift pump :wink: In addition it will run supprisingly better with the correct amount of fuel :wink: And don't expect any help from Chrysler and you'll not be dissappointed :lol:

jghoghunter, there have been a lot of people who've experienced something like a 'miss' under very light (sustaining speed on level ground) throttle in the 55-60 mph range. It's been attributed to air, but I've had it disappear twice with our libby.

It disappeared the first time, when the dealer replaced the AFC/EGR, after they finally failed sufficiently to start (and continue) throwing codes.

After less than a year, it started coming back occasionally, but not too strongly.

It disappeared again when the SEGR was installed. 8)

Nary a bump since.

My harness arrived yesterday, so any air-in-fuel matters should also be gone before too long... :D

Mine started acouple of weeks ago with in the morning (sitting all night) when I go in revers nothing happens, give a littel gas and slowly it statrs to move.
one day I drove to work 8 hrs later in drive did the same thing. alittle bit later the check eng light came on, drove ok not sure when but the light went off.
It started acting nornal again. now this week it takes a minute to start working again. if I have time next week I will have the stealer check the code out.

Well it was time to change the trans filters. I wanted it done by an independant shop before the extended warranty ran out, so I could make sure no metal was in there. They took it apart and it was clean as a whistle. While they were there I had them put the transgo shift kit in. It shifts much nicer now. Crisp and fast. Before it was a bit lazy.

So now I have the SunCoast torque converter to pull off the line and the shift kit to give me nice crisp shifts. Seat of the pants says it certainly gets more power to the ground faster. Before 2nd was pretty slow and you lost alot of momentum during the shift. Now it shifts quick and the power goes to the ground much quicker. I would say the Suncoast, transgo, S E G R and lift pump are the way to go. Totally new Jeep. I am sad to report that mileage has gone down as I can't keep my foot off the pedal now.
