If you can use the star scan to enable the cruise control circuitry on a ECU not previously setup for cruise control.

Dude, that's small potatoes - everyone knows that can be done - how 'bout eggs-actly what occurs when 545RFE drops outta o\d when SGII is actively monitoring the buss - how 'bout exact causative of the hard jerk when coming to a normal stop - how 'bout the rapid shudder, like the trans is shifting in\out of two adjacent ranges under normal up-shifting - how 'bout what eggs-actly what really happens with the addition of the EDGE and other boxes - how 'bout the inten............well, no use belaboring the point..........you get my drift, eh...........

Hmmmph!!! Software switches, indeed!!! That's easy money.................

I'd really like to use my scan gauge again - if you can figure out a way around the tranny problem

Ah, the dark secrets and black magic of the rattling beast shall be uncovered at last! But, maybe we don't want to know??

How about starting a sticky to report on your adventures deep into the metal mind of this stubborn mule? "Today I located the adrenal gland of the little beasty....." etc.

I would be especially interested on what you uncover regarding the chipping. I have been considering those (Inmotion) for a while but don't have enough information for a rational decision: Too much black magic for me still. What ARE they actually altering?
It would also be nice if someone could figure out how to reprogram the tranny to lock up earlier and knock off that silly schizophrenic shifting behavior at 55-60 mpg and light load.

Interesting stuff......

Arghh. I kills me to see threads like this on such an interesting topic, because I don't have the KJ anymore!

I love that enthusiasm from you guys! Remarkable it is. That goes with the Jeep I believe - there's not been a forum nearly as interesting and enthusiastic about TDIs as this forum is about KJ CRDs :)

That's the reason I will stick around here, and be at help if possible!

Just in case you don't know there's www.tdiclub.com It's now a more sedate group as the non crd tdi's secreates have been unraveled using vag-com. A good number of settings can be changed with it. Last time I was there I don't think they were doing intank lift pumps though  Mayabe you can wake them up and get some excitment in them

Yeah I've been lurking around there for a few weeks. It does seem most people mention VAG-COM. I don't even know what it is! :D

The tuningboxes for the Fabia aren't that expensive and are easily installed. I'm not sure I will need them, except if they can offer me better fuel economy :D

I also need to catch up on some inspection of how to mount my oil catch tank and do the SEGR mod (which I think will be easy because of vacuum operated EGR valves over here :D).

I'm not sure I can bring much excitement, the TDIs aren't as fabulous as the CRDs I think. The car is made for economy not for style of life and fantastic special abilities like the Jeep was.

You guys are ExCiting!
ComPuters, Diesel fuel, a little metal, rubber and she-bang!
I can see it now; my prized toy, a smoking wreck with piston holes in the hood, and a big smile on the foolish face.
Have not been like this since motocross racing.
Better get out the crutches and a roll cage.

I am willing to travel and/or pay to get the pre-F37 power back.

Here's a link for you. Basically like a aftermarket STARSCAN but for VW's.

If you can use the star scan to enable the cruise control circuitry on a ECU not previously setup for cruise control.

Sam I don't know if I told you, but the dealer got the cruise working on my wife's CRD that we installed the cruise buttons into. I wasn't there at the time, but she says they scratched their heads with it plugged in, flipped through some menus, and then told her it couldn't be done. Driving away from the dealer she hit the button and it worked.

Speaking of diesels ive got a VW Toureag courtesy car at the moment,it's a 3 litre v6 tdi,but boy does that extra 200cc over my kj make a difference,it goes like stink ,but then again so does the fuel consumption. Its a very quiet engine as well, most folk think its a petrol engined behammouth. They do a v10 5000cc as well  .Nice but i'm getting withdrawal symptoms from lack of my jeep.

JD,
We need to get you and Charlie from Kerma TDI together. He has a stealthy little tool that can help us when the F37 is flashed to the TCM. That will help us figure out what is going on during the flash. From there, he has a guy that is really good with codes that can help us break this dang F37 thing. What do you think?
