Thanks for the nice comments guys!

Really? They all come with that down here, for some reason. I hate it! I'd much rather not have it and have the license plate in the rear bumper like you guys. I'm having some custom stuff fabricated at the moment that should solve the problem though.

Yeah, they're awesome. When I was looking for new tyres I asked about the MTRs but was told that they're a softer compound which works great on dry rocks. The Coopers are harder (i.e. they last longer, which is good!), work better in the mud and are siped so they're better on wet tarmac. Plus, they look super-cool! There's lots of little knight's helmets embossed around the sidewalls, to advertise the Armour-Tek construction I guess.

Dunno, too much probably. But I'd love to do it someday.

Do they? I'll have to check that out!

Hi Ed

Very nice :)

Little question, we have the same cover tire here in France.
You have not a problem to put the tire inside ?
Can you take a photo of the other side from the back to see if exactly the same ?

Thanks :)

There's a couple of pictures of the tyre cover here;
http://www.green-eyed-monster.com/spare_on.jpg
http://www.green-eyed-monster.com/spare_off.jpg
I took them whilst arranging for the fabrication work I'm having done.

The tyre cover had to be cut a little bit to fit my larger tyre on, but nothing too drastic.

No worries!

As I say, just a small amount of trimming on the bit that goes against the tyre tread (to the left of the hinge on the "spare_off" picture), only maybe one centimeter needed to be cut off. I've highlighted where I mean, in red, here;
http://www.green-eyed-monster.com/trim_here.jpg

My previous (245/70 R16) tyres fitted on without any trimming at all.

I take mine from top
http://www.indian-family.com/imgs/top_coverTire.jpg

In red, are you the same curve or its straight for you ?

My original tire is 235 x 70 r16, its trimming perfect. I have some space left. I hope its same cover than the 2003 and can put my future 245 x 75 r16. I'll go to take the bridgestone dueler MT

If not, may be i cut all and just keep the back

Because we are problem here to put the Number plate

Where US car are them, we have some littles reds lights and can't mask them

Why is it that you hate the spare cover? I'm curious because I'm thinking about converting my US style KJ to have that look on the rear end.

Curious that the rear door doesn't open up from the other end instead of like ours does in the US, since Aussies drive on the other side of the road, you'd think they would open the door the other way also. Easier curb access when moving things to and from the KJ when parked along a curb.

.....well, 1st post so I thought i'd put it in some form of "Aussie/Downunder" section :P!!

nice rig Ed, seems your quite into the "Jeep Thing" ?

I used to work for Leo Muller Jeep up here in QLD/brisy - I've had 2 (rather large!! 35" MTRS ect.. ) Wranglers, then moved into a 2003 Khaki Renegade 3.7lt - that had Mickey Thompson Classic 2's 16x8 with 245/75/16 ATR's, 40mm lift (coils only) & some other small nik-naks.........got rid of it after 4 months of poopy fuel consumption avg 20-23ltrs per 100klm.......

I'm about to purchase a new Extreme Sport CRD in Khaki - I wanted Dark Khaki but they're not available in Extreme Sports :( ........I'm going to kit it out with a few nice genuine bits like the chrome trim kit outside, side mould strips & roof rails - Interior silver finish kit (same as ltd). ARB Delux bar (colour coded), ARB 2.5-3" lift, 245/75/16 MTRS & some kickass IPF spotties, T20 Dark Tint - oh I forgot to mention - front ARB Airlocker too!!

This will all be done pre-delivery, I dont want to bugger around afterwards, as that can be a pain in the proverbial...........

Cant wait to get it and attack Ormaeu.......!! Wooooot!!

(If I find a pic of my old Renegade i'll post - but something tells me I dont have any :( )

hehe! opps! Sorry for double posting but I just have to ask fouros (Goldcoast) a question....

With your OME 2" lift, it looks a bit bigger than a 2"........In the OME specs, they actually list 3 different front coils for the KJ - did you get the Delux front bar with winch HHD coils ? (therefore lifting it higher than 2")

Can I see some form of red urethan spacers ? or are they bumpstops ?

crdstu

i used md springs on the front and got about 2 1/2" only got 1 3/4 at the rear so some 10mm TJ spacers are going in the rear soon so i can level her out,

they are the bump stops,

You should hook up with the Gold coast jeepers for a run in the new year there is a few KJ's out and about now
