We're looking to go for weekend kayaking trip to OBX in the next couple of weeks (avoiding the 4th July weekend for obvious reason). Anybody want to come down from VA to meet us? I'm thinking sound side, night run, swimming and clamming (course you have to teach us how it's done properly and all :))

Sounds like a hoot! We're booked on the weekend of the 4th, and are waaaAAAy up in the mountains on the weekend of the 12th. I'll talk to my wife about the weekend of 19-20. Her birthday falls that weekend, so she gets first pick.

Our next opening isn't until August 2-3.

I'll let you know about the weekend of the 19th as soon as I can. Clamming, I've never done...doesn't mean we couldn't try it though. :D

"OK kids, whatever you do, don't rock the boat ..."

"ooh hey kids, look at the { birds, clouds, plane, UFO, death star }!"

You unscrew the paddle blades and the paddle becomes a spear! Time to test your shark-foo skillz

I've talked to my wife and she's OK with the weekend of 19-20 like dogparty said above. If he can't make it we can move it up one week to 12-13. Does that sound like a plan?

Ocracoke campground should be available at that time, please check with reserveamerica.com for the dates you want to be there. As of today there are 59 sites available for 1 night arriving on 7/12.

Ocracoke campground, if you haven't been there before, is located just beyond the sand dunes on the ocean side. You can be as close as 100 meters to the ocean. The campground has no electrical hookup but does have water and (cold) showers and toilet facility. Each campsite has barbecue grill and you'll want to bring some charcoal. We'll go see Mike at the corner of Lighthouse road next to the supermarket, at 4:00pm-ish to get fresh catch of the day (I'd go for the shrimp and clams) to throw on the grill.

Brady, can you keep us up to date on your availability on the weekend of 19-20?

I talked with my wife last night. She wants to go out on the boat that weekend...and not the kayak. We'll be taking the power boat out for a day on the Chesapeake Bay. Sorry I can't join you guys.

We're going to be down there in September though, and we'll have the kayaks and will be staying for a week. I'll let you all know when when I know when.

OK then it's all set for the weekend of 7/12 to 7/13. I'll move on over to the Carolina board and see if anybody wants to go that weekend. Not sure if any of the Carolina guys want to go yakking but we can try.

So htkrph, I'll PM you my cell phone number.

Let me know if the 7/12 - 7/13 is good for you. I plan to take Monday off so we have at least one full day of sea and sun ...

I'm too late for the last Kayak trip you guys went on , but I would be up for something in Pa. or NJ pine barrons before it gets to cold.
