Curious what mirror set up folks are using for towing with their CRD's? I've been thinking of grabbing some CIPA mirror extensions like these:

Unfortunately, I'm finding mixed reviews of it holding position at highway speeds.

Anyone have experience with these? Recommendations of others to consider? I'm partial to removable extensions so I don't have to deal with the greater wind-drag when I'm not towing.

I've been very happy with our McKesh mirrors:

They are rock-solid at highway speed. I got the optional convex mirrors, which I would recommend.

I honestly don't use any. I had some similiar to what you posted that strapped onto the stock mirror, but adjusting them and them not vibrating to death at speed annoyed me more than they were useful.

The install that looked impressive - the pix are now gone - darn.....
he installed Dodge truck towing mirrors - looked good - didn't sound like too hard of an install

These are similar to the above mentioned McKesh mirrors, I just didn't mount them in the window. I bought them at Camping World, I think the brand name was Eagle.

The upper hook slides into the front body panel near the hood hinge and the bottom strap grabs on to the lower pinch weld.

They have left some scratches in the paint (I don't care) and they are not as stable at the stock mirrors, but still usable at 65 mph.

The big bonus over the Cipa mirrors is I can pop 'em off and on and they don't require readjustment every time. I had a pair of the Cipa's and it's always a two person job to get them 'just right', then the rubber feet slip two days later and you have to repeat.

edit - this picture was taken before the AirLifts were installed...

I have been using these, and they work surprisingly well:

Just use a little Windex to clean the vehicle's mirrors before attaching.

I've been using the CIPA mirror extensions for 2 years and 10,000 miles. They need to "find" their spot, but once settled in and tightened they are stable. I pull a 1961 camper trailer, so I generally don't go over 60 or 65 mph.
