Unles you're pretty good at fab work you won't be able to install those.

The KJ tow hooks have a special mount that uses 3 bolts (actually, one regular bolt and one double ended "M" bolt.)

I'd take those back and order the OEM hooks.

The bar goes to my brush gaurd, The plate is for mounting tow hooks and/or gaurd.

Do you have the plate?

If not then remember you said "I'll make it work"?

If you dont have the plate and you want to make this work, your going to have to pick your spot, drill the holes with 1 1/2" spacing, use bolts long enough and grade "8" quality. Then you'll have to either shim it with washers or for a better look run the bolts through some pipe cut to fit.

(I'm assuming your hooks have 1 1/2" spacing)

For strength grade "8" bots then, bolt head, washer, through metal, washer, nut, pipe, towhook, washer, nut.

Unless you get under there to look at it...it looks normal.

You can get by with one unless you want a matched pair or something to bang your head on like I just did.

You can get by with mounting a clevis ring or eye bolt under there too, if you don't want to fool with the hooks.

Yeah I don't have the plate. So I will do as you said drill and mount with a pipe cut in half all with grade 8 strength parts

What i cant figure out is why they didnt put some type of attach point on the bottom of the KJ...I was trying to move a truck yesterday that didnt have a motor in it and i had to use a chain with very large hooks just to be able to hook on then he long chain i used just wanted to bend my rear bumper. Plastic...I really hate it. Anyone got any pics with the rear bumper off?

That plate is part of the OEM tow hooks. The hooks are bolted to it, but the head of the bolts has been cut off and it's been welded.

Just to clarify...I just got my front tow hooks, and the heads aren't cut off the bolts. they ARE welded, though. they're from an '06 4x2 Renegade.

Not to rain on anybodys parade, but I got hooks just like that from JCWhitney. Installation took about 15 minutes.

Only 15 min if the mount plates were there. Maybe not. He should give you a pic though.

I thought you did it already bud? Get'Er done!

Myke, Do you want looks or function? If function is the goal, get a piece of fairly heavy chain with a grade 8 bolt and washer on each end holding it to the bumper and put a clevis hook on the middle link for a tow point, you can get a carbiner snap hook to hold up the slack while driving. Its function is FAR superior to tow hooks because it centers the pulling force.

It will look Kick stupid and nobody will have one like it. Many will copy it.

If you want to clean it up and/or quiet it down, you can run the chain thru some hose or duct tape it with camo tape.

I was going to do this instead of the little tow hooks, then the Chevy hook idea hit me. See they are BIG and solid Iron for hitting purposes. I've already hit my shins and banged my skull on them. :P

I also had the mount plates.

Yet another beautiful poor man invention.

You can always go with a front reciever hitch.

chains like to brake and would be fairly dangerous if a piece hit somebody. Just my two cents though. I have a 10 foot strap I connect to both of my hooks and use a big clevis to connect it to another strap on the other rig. Same principle, just safer I think.

Straps cut & I've never seen a decent chain break in my life on 10 G aircraft rides or nuclear weapons transport, ship, or whatever.

Myke, Buy a decent chain
