Well thats odd - cylinder misfire

Got a p304 code last night....cylinder 4 misfire. So today i pulled the coil pack and plug. plug looked fine, just replaced it about 1k ago. cleaned it off, stuck it back in, fired up the KJ and was still misfiring. So then I pulled the coil packs from cylinders 2 and 4, swapped them. No more misfire, on either cylinder, KJ runs fine again. Thats odd!

i had the exact same thing happen shortly after replacing the plugs. ill i did was pull and replace #4 plug and it seamed to do the trick. kinda of funny to think that you would have a bad plug but it has not caused anymore codes

I have had it happen to me once, and then have had 2 or 3 others on here contact me with similar problems, MOST times if you either pull the wires from the coil packs clean them good and put them back on it will do the trick or pull the coil pack and switch it to another it will work as well. maybe it was never clicked into completely and took some time to start a miss fire or something. I carry a spare coil pack with me along with my other 50/75 lbs of spare parts just in case :wink:

check all the wires as well to make sure they have not rubbed through or anything

well i just went for a ride, was riding sooooooo smooth, then the CEL started flasing. Now have codes P302 and P304. 304 is prob still the old one, but 302 is new. So I guess the coil pack is bad.

heading to autozone to pick one up...hopefully thats the end of the story

You should always replace all the coil packs when one fails.Also if the plugs have oil around them,meaning the valve cover needs to be replaced,you need to replace the coil boots since the oil will break down the boots causing a short.

I did the same thing a month ago and no proplem since then. #4 went to #1 and no more light. I was ready to spend some money on it but it works fine so (if it works dont fix it.)

TJKJ is right about replacing them all if one goes, I carry a spare just in case so I can get home if its real bad!

I never want to be stuck driving home to Ohio from Daytona Beach on a holiday weekend with no rear driveshaft! Rear U Joint went out and had to front wheel drive it all the way home! 70 Ford F150 on 40s what a ride!

i would sure replace them all if I had the extra $150 in my pocket. But its a fix for now, and I know which is the new one. when i get the money, the rest will be replaced.
