OEM replacement CAC hoses

ok got the OEM replacement CAC hoses today from the stealership.

The turbo to CAC hose has been improved I think. Has same appearance as a SAMCO hose. When looking at the ends of the hose there are 3 layers of cords vs the one layer on stock (between orange inner and black outer layer). No orange liner like stock just black. Has wrapped appearance on outside of hose like samco hoses.

The CAC to engine hose on the other hand is the same crap style as the hose that came with the Jeep. Bad thing is it was the CAC to engine hose that failed on my jeep.

Big diff. in price between the two hoses. Turbo to CAC was $165 and CAC to engine $110.

For the time being, till you decide to use a filter, go to CRD TECH section, do the elephant hose mod to prevent further oil intake from the CCV puck - intake system will dry out after awhile, and with the 3-ply turbo-out hose, you shouldn't have a repeat of this - it's 3-ply because compressor output air can be 300*F on a grade - cac output will be under 200deg - oil is the killer: eliminate the oil from the CCV puck and the rubber hosing should survive for many moons

What's the part number on those new hoses?

I will get you the part number on the new hoses.

I have installed a provent but I did it at around 80,000 miles. Damage was already done at that point.

I bought the turbo to cac hose a few months ago when mine blew on the road. 165 bucks and it was much tougher than the original. After 1000 miles, I put in blue Samcos and now my OE hose is covered with oil. I did the EHM and saved the hoses to slap the dealer with when he complains. The cac to intake hose was so soft that I am surprised it was still holding boost.

So are you saying your new OE turbo to CAC was sweating oil like the old one or just the CAC to intake?

I am hoping my hoses hold up now that they are new and I have a provent. I guess I will see. If they start sweating oil from the residual oil in the CAC I will eventually get SAMCO's.

the new turbo to cac hose had a good deal of oil in it after 1000 miles. I then replaced both of them with samco's and did the EHM. The new ose seems much better than my original one, but now it is just a spare.

Turbo to CAC - 55038729AA (This is the new and improved hose, not sure if this is diff part number than original)

CAC to Intake - 55037730AD (Some old crap hose)

The residual oil in the cac will remain resident until you remove that heat exchanger and clean it out with good ole #2, then hot soapy water, then hotwater rinse, then blow-dry with the opposite end of a vacuum cleaner - the Provent will scrub the CCV effluent very well and things should begin to dry up - just remember to check the dipstick level regularly unless you've connected the Provent drain to the crankcase

No problem on the part numbers.

How hard is it to remove the intercooler? Have you or anyone else on this forum attempted it? I don't remember seeing any discussions explaining removal.

Have been several threads discussing it, but can't remember how far they got - pull the grille, upper cross-brace, cooling fan, move the ac condenser outta the way, disconnect the auto trans cooler lines, unbolt the fan shroud (hint: using a japanese razor saw, split the fan shroud on each side between the upper\lower mounting ears to make it easier to work on fan and accessories, later, allowing removal of just the upper half), remove the cac hoses, pull the cac forward and up and out - no, I haven't done it, but I have cased the job for posteriority..............
