KJ WEST just had a CPR/ 1st Aid training session today.
I would like to challenge all of the other organized groups And individuals to take these great training classes. Sound off here if you have already had the training.
Ed & Cathy were there!

Shanna & Brian were naturals!

Just look at that form!
Image
Chris & I checking for a pulse. (yep, we had our kids there!)
Image
Clint & Shanna working on some infant CPR training.
Image
My son Sean (12) was doing a great job! (notice everyone paying attention)
Image
Kathy, Clint & I working hard.

I don't know about the rest of you, but I sure feel a Lot safer knowing we have some great people in our club that now know quite a bit more about saving someones life on the trail!
Congrats to all that were there!

Contact your local Red Cross or check out your phone book listings for other organizations that offer the training. It is a Great investment that just might save the life of someone you Love!
:D

I had heard they changed the Regs that you aren't suppose to do mouth to mouth anymore... apparently they found it didn't help as much.

Was Qualified at one time been over the two years so I need a ReQual...
My flight school did it some time ago however its been a bit since I've been around there....

Mike

PS. Good idea for the club!

Also CPR and Combat Lifesaver qualified, the CPR and a lot of first aid was required for Basic Training in the army, the combat lifesaver was good for some promotion points. I wouldn't be surprised if everyone in the military had similar training, if not required it should be. I know they teach CPR in high school now, I doubt you get certified for it.

CPR & First Aid here, I re-certify every year for CPR, and every 3 years for first aid. It's a work requirement. It's comforting to know if I need to help, I can.

Getting my CPR training through the Red Cross on 12/19 and taking MOFA training next January and February.

MOFA = Mountaineering Oriented First Aid.
I do a lot of hiking and backpacking and this year got into climbing some of these awesome Cascade Mountains. MOFA is first aid for when you're three steps past the middle of nowhere, have a very limited amount of supplies, and might be there for a couple days to get evac'd. It's pretty extreme, but something I need to learn.

great stuff to know - have been continuously certified since 1980... and, thanks to whoever is lookin' out for me up there, I've never needed to do much more than band aids, and a broken arm.

Haha, oh yeah, I forgot that one COP. It has been so long since I have been with my AF brothers. I think the Army is trying to assimilate me.

Yeah it great to have AED cert. along with the CPR. Got to use the AED in my patrol car for the first time the other day. Shocking is good thing. I guess the guy would have died other wise. I'm beginning to see more and more AED in public places, saw one at the mall yesterday hanging on the wall. It's important to have trained people that know what to do when someone goes down. The tactical first responder class I took back a couple of years ago really helped me feel more confident about helping someone.

I was a lifeguard through Highschool, and College. Also CPR and First Aid certified...but all those have long been expired. Would be a good idea to do this again.
