KJ,

Really appreciate your efforts to finally resolve this problem that has affected '05 owners trying to use their vehicles for purposes they are supposed to handle with ease.

What did you pay for your new fan clutch? (We should get a warranty replacement, but I don't like our odds of convincing the current dealer to replace it.)

I really like the idea of an electric fan clutch with manual override, but I gather no one is aware of a reliable unit.

Thanks Again,

DOC

They are $145 online at Hall Chrysler. They will beat anyone's price - often by a significant amount. The local stealer wanted $240 but I talked them down using my online quote. I'm not going to bother doing that anymore because the stealer requires I drive in and pick it up rather than shipping it to my doorstep like the online folks do.

I am staying away from the stealership at this point. The last couple of times I went in (2 different places) they told me my 36 mo portion of the 7/70 warranty was expired so the only things covered were parts bathed in oil. I then did some simple math and determined that even if I was to win an argument or beg for their help, given my time and the amount of extra fuel it would take to drive my truck for as long as they would need the Jeep, it just didn't add up to much if any savings for a lot of hassle.

Yep.
I've been dealing with Justin.
I've now ordered a thermostat, EGR valve, tensioner pulley and alternator clutch/pulley from them and used their price to pressure my local stealer for a decent fan clutch price.

KJ,

Are you still confident that the fan clutch was the key to solving the overheating?

Chris: Stealers who over price parts are like pedophiles if you can fix one of them you have special powers.

Glad to hear the fan clutch did the job.
