Lots of people have trouble posting pics from the net, so here are the steps. First of all you have to have the pictures hosted on another website such as Car Domain or Image Shack.

Linking a picture file from the Internet

Step One: First thing to do is hit "new thread" or "post reply" depending on when/why you are posting. Next, type out the text of your thread.

Step Two: Next, go to the webpage (ie. from Car Domain or Image Shack) with the photo you are looking to link, and right click the picture. A box will pop up, go all the way down and click on "properties." You should see another box pop up, highlight the address value (everything including "http" all the way to the end)and copy.

Step Three: Press Img box, paste the address of the pic you just copied and the press the Img again. Or type Image but substitute the address with that of the pic you want to post.

Step Four: You can preview that everything went well or you can submit to post your picture.

Yor new pic is now visible to all who wish to see it.

That looks like a website address. You need to right click on your picture, go to properties and copy whatever it shows for the URL there. It should end in jpg or some other file extension that denotes a picture.

I recently switched from Photobucket to Picassa Web Albums because Picassa works really really well with iPhoto on my mac.

Unfortunatly, I cant seem to get the code to work with Picassa. Does anyone know why this is? I had no trouble at all embedding from Photobucket...

Thats what I come up with.

Or that...

I believe that the site doesn't allow direct linking and that is why it doesn't work.

thanx

Press and hold the 'Control' key (might be 'Ctrl') and then click on the image. Which site are you using for hosting your images?

Yep, just about the easiest way to do it. Once the image shows in your album the [img] code should be under it - just click in the box where the image code is and you should see a little yellow box pop up that says 'copied'. Then go to your post and paste it in. Easy-peasy 8)

Are you using "Preview" to view pic's on your desktop? If so, go up to the toolbar > highlight "Tools" > and click-on > "Get Info".

Then when you get tired of doing that, go to Rad Tech and buy a mouse. Their mouse(s) will enable you to right-click.

Fwiw, I have the Rad Tech BT500 rechargeable wireless mouse. It's really cool and works great!

Here's what I learned from Picasa;

When you are trying to copy a url, forget the "link to this photo" link on the right hand side. I couldn't make it work. I had to <right click> on the photo and choose "Copy Image URL" from the drop down list. Then click the Img button here on Lost, and paste.

The code between the Img bookends looks like this; it starts with HTTP://

lh3.ggpht.com/_J_q7kbzMafo/TDYXENp8PBI/AAAAAAAAE8Q/OvNyg9vZG9A/s912/fixedjeep.jpg

Let's see if this worked. I am new to iMac computers and this is my first attempt to post a photo using it. [img]right%20side%20look%20at%20KJ.jpg[/img] Nope, it did not work. I guess that pic's from the iphoto section of my computer can not be posted

I use photo bucket and find it very easy. It gives you 4 choices to link to. Only one works, the last one! It's called "IMG code".
When you click on the last choice it automatically copies it to your clip board and your ready to insert it on your post.
You can use the "Preview" option to see if it works before you "submit" the post :SOMBRERO:
Image
The code put in my clip board minus the extra spaces is
[I M G]h t t p://i610.photobucket.com/albums/tt181/JoBo43/Beach.jpg[/I M G]

This is way harder to explain then do :dizzy:
