Hi all,VegiH here from NH, just wanted to share my libby story.I own a 2005 CRD converted to run on WVO,30,000 miles ago.There has been no major issues with kit. The lil ute runs better on 2 micron WVO then ULSD.This is my third WVO rig so I have a pretty good grasp on the theroies and procedures.I also have a Vegistroke Excursion, and my house runs a AG Solutions B-150 on WVO as well.I guess the only thing i have that run on gas is my two scooters(85 MPG),and a snow blower.If you have any Q's feel free to fire away..........................H

OK, here is the scoop!

The Jeep liberty has too many plastic parts in the injector pump and system. It'll work, but not for more than a year. This is also true about Ford Power strokes and some Cat engines. the compression in these motors is too low for efficient use of WVO, and will not run efficiently.

Now what would work is to switch out the motor from a Mercedes 300TD or 300D, which can be fitted with a modified bell housing, and will give you mechanical injectors, 23 to 1 compression, and readily available parts. The other thing you could do is get a Mercedes, Audi, or VW diesel, that is designed with bio fuels in mind.

Another alternative is to get a Dodge pickup with a Cummings turbo diesel, they convert over well, maybe your Jeep can be fitted with the Cummings engine, then it is not a problem

Did you have your installation done by Dave LaCassie (DFA installer) in Keene?

Where on earth did you find this hogwash? I cant find one accurate statement in the whole paragraff. A Cummins powerd KJ would be pretty cool though. Too bad that it wouldn't even fit in the passenger compartment if all the seats were gutted out.

I have a Liberty CRD on WVO and a Ford F-250 Powerstroke on WVO as well, they are both more than adequate at handling WVO. In fact, as far as I know, there is no better pickup truck engine suited to WVO than a 7.3 L Powerstroke.

5.9L 12 valve Cummins. But even better is a 6.9 or 7.3 pre powerstroke IH.

Hey veg, I would love to see pics of your set up. Do you have the second tank in the cargo area? Can you list more specifics about how have have it set up? I am considering this as an option to Bio Diesel for a number of reasons. My feedstock is 100% Canola oil that has only been used once and it is filtered through a 200 micron filter before I pick it up. I guess what I am asking for is Details, Details, Details! If you have stuff listed elsewhere on the net just point me in that direction. Thanks!

Sorry to be a way for awhile,I too have a 2000 Excursion with the powerstroke 7.3(Vegistroke equipped),just sold my 1990 12V dodge W-350 to the man I bought my CRD from (ironic,don't ya think),all are great on WVO,but the libby is less thirsty than my X,also drives and warms up more like a gasser then the X.To answer the tank Question,my stock tank is the WVO tank(20-22.5 gallons depends who ya ask),there is a custom 5.5 gallon underbody tank for diesel.They share the fuel door with pressurized caps(yellow WVO,green ULSD).The man i bought it from put Videos on youtube so ya can look if ya want(Greasybrothers,2005 WVO Liberty).I know someone on here asked for a copy of my CD,I lost the Address and then we crashed :cry:,I still want to hook you up so PM me your address again and it will go in the mail.I also have a AG-Solutions B-150 WVO Boiler for my house,all oil purified with my F2F diesel craft set-up(OC-50).....................VEGI-H

Your right it wont work, don't try it, leave more WVO for me
I have ran approx. 4,000 gallons of WVO through my Powerstroke 6.0 liter over the last 3 years 8)




You obviously don't know jack about WVO or diesel engines. :P

This is an open invitation,to anyone wanting to convert to WVO...........My CRD has been burning the oil for 30,000+ miles.THERE ARE NO LONG TERM WORRIES.IF you want a copy of the disk for this instal(100+ photos and some diagrams),I will send it for FREE.It costs me like $2,each time,but we need more greasers to represent the jeeps.I can count all the Grease CRDs on one hand....come on,start a revolution,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,H

I am an avid blender of WVO and have been for about 5 years on a couple of VW TDIs a powerstroke 7.3(way to thirsty for me to keep up with) and now we have an 06 libby. It runs pretty good on a blend i guess, but i scared the heck out of myself this winter in it and thought i need to back off the blends...or atleast till it warms up a little here in michigan. I usually put in around 10 gallons in the tank and drive up to the gas station and top it off with D2 or mix in K1 with the Veg at home, well. It was chilly out I put in 10 gallons and drive up to the gas station 1 mile and the truck is loosing power, I figure the veggy is too thick and top it off with D2 and let it run for a while to get some D2 to the injector. Well that darn thing went into limp mode and scared me cause it had never done that. I have a facet pump and a 2 micron FM100 filter setup. I dont know if I was starving the system or the unheated veggy was just too thick, but I learned my lesson in the cold weather with the Libby and Veg. Now My 03 VW TDI is as robust as say an old 123 benz I swear that thing will run on 100% cold Veg though I dont do that to it. I also have a heat exchanger and heated filter on the VW, but it starts fine on cold Veg which the libby doesnt seem to start well on either. I just wonder if you veggy guys have ever had your libbys go into limp mode when you switched over to veggy?

I'm new to this forum but I see you guys are burning WVO too. I'm only mixing right now but I hope to go straight Veggie when I get to a warmer climate. Alaska doesn't like thick oil. I've been using a minimum of 25% WVO in the winter (good to -10F) and around 40-60% in the summer. I'm gonna try 70% this year though. I'd be interested in learning how you guys are filtering the oil. I'm using an old water heater to heat the oil and a Jabsco Quick oil change pump to push the oil through 3 whole house water filters. First inline is the 40 Micron spun filter followed by a 5 Micron and finished with a 1 Micron pleated Filter. After mixing it goes through a 15 Micron Water Block Goldenrod then into the Jeep and then through a 10 Micron Fram inline filter then through the 2 Micron Heated Racor. In the Cummins I run nothing but the stock 7 Micron Filter. I'm a little more than a year into this and have only had 1 issue and that was a mathmatical error and a really cold winter night! 72%WVO at -16F is pretty gooey!

Glad to see people are mixing the WVO and diesel. Our processor didn't work out and I have over 400 gallons of veggie oil to burn up. By the look of it, if I filter it down to 3 microns and mix it 50-50 it will burn all right.

Have I missed anything?
