CAC hoses...

Sorry to start a new thread on this but i need some urgent advice.

My CAC hoses are soft, easily squeezable and are constantly moist.

There is a " wheezing / whooshing" kind of noise that i can hear but i'm not sure if that is the turbo spooling or a hose leak. I don't seem to have the symptoms of a split hose with power loss or black smoke but the suppleness of the hoses is of concern to me. These are the hoses with the orange colour inside.

Besides SAMCO hoses or the OEM, can i make two pipes in metal and if so what kind :?:

Inspect every inch of them for oil seepage :wink:

I guess you can make something yourself with some aluminium or stainless steel pipes. But you will need the silicone couplers and special clamps.

The one that goes to the intercooler can get pretty hot...beware.

Stainless could be a problem with the heat, i'm not sure. A neat mandrel bend with it flanged at the ends and then cutting the ends off the existing hoses to attach them to the intercooler hhhhmmm :idea:

if you are going that way... go to a parts store and buy the silicon couplings yeah
you will spend a bit more but they are not the deteoriated rubber ones

My current hoses have done 50 000 miles and of that about 5000 with the EHM. Are they supposed to be as soft as I've described or is that caused from the oil in the hoses.

Here is my install, very easy to do. I did not have to remove anything but the engine cover and move the fuse box.

Thanks for the pics, what is about the SAMCO hoses that are different to the OEM's :?:

They are thicker and better resistant to oil. I know Samco Sport from Motorsports.

I blew the turbo side one at 28,000 and 18,000 of that was with a Provent installed.

Are the Samco hoses worth the money?
I heard the new Mopar hoses are improved.
Are they?
The Mopar hoses are 55038729aa $112+ and 55037730ad $77+ from moparpartsamerica.com
The Samco are about $300.

I noticed that the CAC hose where it connects to the turbo was wearing from the hose from the airbox in that they were rubbing on each other.

I pushed down hard on the airbox to make sure that it was not loose but i can't seem to stop the box from moving backward and forwards.

Perhaps something to look out for.

mine blew at about 30K miles. I have replaced it with the OEM but am waiting for a set of SAMCO through a group buy EuroLost. Frankly for the price, you better off with some solid stuff !!

Good thinking, I will skip the intermediate step of buying OEM hoses and just go Samco.

As a matter of fact I just ordered them 1-877-836-6155, asked for discount, $269.98 hoses + $16 for clamps + $8. shipping

Hey, what skid plates you having? I want to mount some and am hesitating between Mopar and ASFIR

I went with Mopar, very pleased with the low price and rugged construction.
I did have to open up a couple of holes with a torch to get an easy fit.
Overall, very satisfied.

I have had this same problem along with a slew of others. As a I mentioned in in other thread, I am fabbing up my own charge pipe for mandrel bent 16ga aluminum. If anyone is insterested in a set, let me know.

Here is a pic of one my last projects.

I have samco coolant hoses on my track car, they are great but I am still not a fan of have flex hoses for charge pipes. I would rather have hard tubes with 4 ply silicone couplers and Tclamps.
