There is a local shop that has a DRB3 Starscan tool who is willing to let me use it. I was wondering if it's possible to turn off the active CEL I have cause of the ORM mod and force the ECM to ignore the trouble code in the future so that the light doesn't illuminate again? Unless that is, something else besides the missing MAF sensor sets off a code? If so, how hard would it be to do it with the DRB3, as I have never used one before, and don't know the procedure.

Or...................is it possible, with a full function DRB3, to completely deactivate the EGR all together???

SEGR is really nice. And as soon as I become an electrical engineer and can build one, I'll no longer need my Scanguage to turn that danged light off.

DRBIII cannot alter EPA-sanctioned emissions devices or levels - get the INMOTION Stage II reflash for that - 350 bucks, a few sheckels for the mailman, and yer good to go, + more power to Boost......................

I was really intimidated by the build. I got plenty of help from one of the kit builders. They charge extra but can send you a completed box that only needs wiring.

Ok then, but can it force the ECM to ignore the active code for the missing MAF sensor so that it will never come back on again???

No - no oem vehicle mfr would be willing to pay the exorbitant penalties for defeating congressionally-mandated emissions equipment - only the shade-tree aftermarket programmers, too small for EPA to go after, can get in there and modify to their brain's limitations, and then they only scrape by under the "for off-road only" disclaimer - if more states adopt the federally-sanctioned DOT vehicle inspection procedures, even those will need go into hiding, furtively pulling at yer elbow as you walk into any off-road equipment shop, with a "Pssssst! Hey, buddy, wanna buy a hot tune fer yer (enter marquee of choice here)?"

In short, and to wit, no dealer scantool is programmed to do that kinda stuff

How about just using a CReader?

Unplug the MAF sensor and plug the CReader into your OBDII port. That's it. Your done...

I've had the MAF unplugged and have been using the CReader for about a year now and have not had another problem with the EGR. The CReader will clear the CEL after startup. Once cleared, you can leave it plugged in or unplug it - your preference. Note - it will clear any future codes - should they occur - after it cycles/reads them 3 times.

I leave mine plugged in all the time now. Once I unplugged it and dropped in my hot coffee and it was shorted for a couple of days until it dried out. I had to shake a few teaspoons of coffee out of it. Then I plugged it back in and it works perfect. Shocked Best $40.00 I ever spent. Cool

Very interesting. I could not get a price on this CReader. How much did you pay?

I was under the impression that that one was a simple code reader and would not automatically clear the trouble codes.

The Cobra OBD2 reader clears most codes after it displays them

Just to be clear; Do any of these readers automatically clear the codes at startup? I have a good scanner which will read and clear any code, but the DTCs have to be erased manually by pushing a button. The idea of a box which could be plugged in and forgotten about is very attractive.

Yes - that simple Cobra brand OBD2 reader automatically displays and clears most non-critical codes - the new version reads the CAN enhanced codes, so you may need to test that one
