Can anyone who has the tube type rock rails, not the 2" square, measure them for me,? I've seen a black KJ that has the ones tilted up that I like. I'm looking to do some fab work and looked at both 1 1/2' and 2" tube. I'm thinking the 2" maybe overkill for my idea and added weight, but need opinions on the best size.

Edit....
Like these, they look like 2" Except I won't be having the 2" square tube to weld to.

so are you wanting a measurement on the main tube (the 2x2 in the pic) or of the side guard (the round tube)?

I would think that 1.75" would be a good size, thats what I bought to make mine out of but I ending up using it for something else

I looking for the size of the outside tube,.... side gaurd. I won't have the inside square like the pic, my idea will be to just weld the tube to the main supports going to frame. I have only found 1 1/2" or 2", I'm thinking the smaller one will fit my needs for just a step for my short wife and kids.

Here's a top view of my idea, the ends will have a short piece welded back at an angle, similar to the other pic I posted, but they will be just hanging with the ends capped off......

Tahoe, will you be using these as a step or actually as rock rails? If you are just using them as a step, they will be ok. If you want them to be a rock rail, they wont do well. The ones pictured are from my sliders and I can go out and get a measurement in a little while.

Edit: Ok, my side tube rails are a just a little bigger than 1 1/2 inch in diameter.

Thanks for measurement, the 1 1/2" should work for my purpose. They will currently be used as just steps, basic nerf bars. I would have to redo/beef up if I was ever to use as rock rails, probably add the 2" square then and design like yours. Now on to buying material and some cut off blades!!! :D
