The fuel tank vent tube is ~4", lays right on top the fuel tank
- rear diff vent tube is attached to the rear floorpan, same level as fuel tank vent
- transfer case vent tube lies along top of transmission, same level as fuel tank vent
- transmission vent tube is 3", sticks sideways out of top of transmission case, same level as fuel tank vent
- front diff vent tube is attached to front crossmember, same level as fuel tank vent
- so, yeah dive right in, folks: ain't no splashing or deep water gonna slow you down, right?
Ever notice how that Trail-rated badge carefully avoids the "and stream" scenario?
So, yeah, bolt on that snorkel and jump right in, eh!

Four in a row really makes it go

There are six breathers (at least on Australian models): Front Diff (normally found attached to the top strut bolt by a plastic fitting); Transmission (on my 08 it is only 50mm long and right on top of the transmission); Transfer Case (the longest one leads up to near the Transmission breather but mine was melted by the exhaust pipe so watch it); Rear Diff (attached to the cross member near the front of the fuel tank), Fuel Tank (two here, one on top of the tank at the rear and if you have a tow bar or bash plate it can only be accessed by dropping those down enough to extend, the second fuel tank breather is just inside the fuel filler neck and can be extended further up the neck which is where you should bring up the first tank breather as well). All three front breather should be bought up to a position high on the firewall, with all rears extended into the top of the fuel filler neck (as a good option as there would be some positive pressure in there if water rose into the filler neck). And just supporting what was previously said re the snorkel, CRDs cannot breath in water - even a small amount will hydrolock the engine and your gone. If you don't want to do a snorkel, there is the 02 V6 Airbox replacement ($) which will raise your intake to just behind where the hood (bonnet) meets the grill which is just a few inches higher than stock; the other non-snorkel option is to replace your airbox intake with a snorkel pipe (which can be fabricated with PVC pipe and I am working on a design for this now). Of course the best option is to go around the water, find a bridge, or change your route.
