Where does everyone keep tools in their rigs for off road? I need a better setup than under my seat in a small tool bag. I use my jeep as a dd and have twins that will be using the rear seat space so it can't lay down. Plus I have a 100 pound chocolate lab that I take around in the back as well. Any ideas or suggestions? Thanks.

Big Rubbermaid container. Put everything in it. Tools, recovery strap, gloves, air compressor, rope, cargo straps, etc...

build a raised deck with storage underneath, could even put drawers in it to pull out to access your tools, straps etc. carpet the top, dog is happy, tools are out of site, everyone is happy!

I'm just starting to build setup. I recently built an interior rack and got one tool box with basic hand tools (wrenches, sockets, ratchet, BFH, etc...) Need to get another tool box and more tools and recovery gear.

Hey, TJKJ I noticed you are not carrying the proper antifreeze for your KJ....

i let my english setter roam around on the rides sometime, and i have been thinking of building, i guess placing a board across the bottom of the feet area in the rear seats. just put one from door to door, and nail some wood on the ends to keep it balanced. can't cost more than $5 if you don't have the wood.

and if you can get fancy, you could use a tool to form the edges and under the front seats!

Just my idea.

Here is an older picture of what I have. I have these black boxes that I call my trail boxes. I carry two in the TJ and I carry one in the KJ. I have them strapped in and they are removable so I can put the back seat in, or I don't have to have it in the Libby when its being used around town.

I thought the gallon on top of the craftsman tool chest was antifreeze. My mistake! :)

Check out expeditionportal.com lots of great ideas on shelfs/storage etc, some of these guys are pros at storage and overlanding and making every small area serve a purpose. seen some cool set ups on there

Found the setup I am going for. Mine will have a few variations. Off for a parts and price list at Home Depot.
