Cleevis lift

I want to see pictures of your Cleevis lift.
I removed my Frankenlift because it was too high for my wife and my baby. I want to bring it up a little bit but not too much, but highter than stock.
I want to see options from a Cleevis lift and a daystar budget lift.

I have the Daystar 2.5

Before lift with 235/70/16s

After lift with same tires

With 255/70/16s

easy way to see what it would look like is place a 3 ton jack under the trans cross member and jack it up an inch, take a picture, two inches, take a picture etc That way you can post them an see from one to the other the way yours looks :wink:

If you had a Frankenlift - take it apart - take out the spacer - change the top plate back to stock
- and you have a OME lift - shorter rides a bit better (not preloading the springs) and you already have all the pieces.

I looked in the lift section about installing the clevis lift. Is that all you do is undo the bolt and pry the clevis down? I tried this today and could not get the clevis to move from the spring. Do I just need to get a BFH and a little elbow grease and geter done!?

No need for the Big Hammer. But I did use a trick. I took the clevis bolt out and then ran it through the clevis backwards. Then put a spare washer or something in there for the bolt to push on to help open the clevis a little. Don't pry it open too far. I only had to go about 1/2 to 1 revolution of the clevis bolt once snug. Then you can pry it up with a crow-bar pretty easily.

Did just what you said and still could not get the clevis to move

Do I need remove the sway bar or anything?? It just seems like there is to much tension between the clevis and the spring :cry:

Any more advice :?:

I dunno. Mine was pretty easy to move once I spread it apart. Maybe one of the more "seasoned" guys will chime in here.

BTW, I've read before but I can't remember, clevis lift going to warrant a realignment?

Yes.

Any change to the suspension will require realignment. Or, hanging a winch/bumper off the front of your rig after swapping to OME HD's, etc, will warrant a realignment.

Basically, any time you add or remove height, be it from lifting or weight or whatever, realignment is necessary

AHHH So I see that there was removed to get the nuts on! There seemed like alot of down force when I was trying to get the clevis off. I am affraid that once the clevis comes loose that the lower arm would drop to the ground and it would a MF'er to get it back into position.

The CV and steering rod won't let the arm go down.

I was trying to remember, but I think I left the clevis attached to the lower arm, then a few taps with a hammer on the upper part of the clevis and the down force of the arm took care of the rest.

Do not use a pickle fork. It will tear up the boot. Look at the Daystar 2.5" lift kit install how-to. it has the instructions on how to disconnect...
