Hey guys,

How much should it cost to get a recalibration for bigger tires, and where should I get it done? Dealer or local shop? I think the computer is confused and I am losing mpgs. thanks a lot.

Pretty sure it has to be the dealer -
however I've had 2 dealers tell me it can't be done (except for stock tires sizes)
but other people have gotten theirs recalibrated and said it makes a lot of difference .

It will depend on your dealership. Mine charged for half-an-hour of labor, 35 bucks.

They can change it to a specified tire size (about 8 to choose from - one or two sizes seen on the KJ). Or they can set it to a specified rotations per mile - which can be calculated or found on your tire manufacturer's website.

I've got 32'' tires never recalibrated, when I go past those speed indicating signs the police put up my speedometer is dead on? Can't figure that one out.

Some years of the KJ's can only be reprogrammed to certian tire sizes, other years you can input Rev's per mile.It was real fun reprogramming mine with the gear swap and 32" tires,it's very close and cost me $45(1/2 hour of labor).

Mines off around 2mph at 70mph. I only have 245/70/16 tires. It was pretty close with the stock tires.

They thing I really care about is for performance purposes so that the computer knows when to switch gears.

yea exactly. when i put my 32" tires on, my transmission would shift between 3 and 4 constantly on the highway, i either had to go like 55 or so, or do like 75mph to keep it from shifting around, now it doesnt do it as much and i can stay at 60-65 steadily
