Well today me and my friend Scott decided to go back into the woods and have some fun in the snow. as we were driving around we spotted a black ford truck up ahead, then we saw a tan H1 Hummer... that was stuck. They were shocked that a Liberty made it back there and were even more amazed when I managed to tug him out and back to land lol. What happened is he went nose first into a deep mud puddle which took the weight off the front and rear so he had no traction to get out at all. I managed to snap a few photos of the whole ordeal

OH come on now Sean,
I see a Hummer and then a strap connected to it, but no strap connecting you two together....sure you pulled him out, we all know that Hummers are way better at 4 wheeling than a KJ

besides that you never invited me to go along

Good job, what did they say after you pulled them out?

They were rather shocked that I was even to get back there. I think he as a bit suprised I was able to get him out but he had his wife and kid with them so I think he was just happy to not be stuck back there much longer. And I'm gonna take you there whenever you want, its a blast right now, really bumpy and stuff. it maxed out the rear suspension in the jeep and so I kept hearing it thump when it would go all the way down lol.

You should have handed Scott the camera and told him to stand off to the side and take lots of pictures during the extraction! That way you would have the ultimate 'proof' of your Jeep's capabilities 8)

KJ owners usually know the capabilities and limits of there vechiles. Where as a Hummer owner may go out an buy a Hummer and think they're invinsable.

It looks like the guy went nose down as describes instead of tackling the ditch on a diagonal.

Good job.

yeah the General Grabbers are amazing tires, they are almost like an All Terrain +. When it comes time to get new tires ill probably get them again or try the Pitbull Growlers if they have them in 31s by then.

Looks like the mud puddle knocked out the right front headlight on the H1. The weight on the front end is probably what got the HMMWV stuck in the mud.

Time to cut a hole in the roof and mount an M2 up there...

Okay, first I need to get this out of the way - some Hummer owner's aren't the only ones who should not be in a 4x4. Just the other day I saw someone in a new yellow Rubi purposely speed up to hit some deep tire rutted snow on a roadway (being in the right lane, going from two lanes down to one) causing them to slide 30 yards stopping just short of head-on with a telephone pole. My first thought upon seeing the driver come to a stop - "you should not be driving a Jeep."

As for the topic, man a video camera would have been golden. But for now, I strongly recommend  you sign-on to the Hummer forums and submit a new post something along the lines of "We're Here To Help - If You Need Us". Then simply post a link to this thread. I think the replies over there would be entertaining, to say the least.

just remember - you can get a hummer in a Jeep, but you can't get a Jeep in a hummer.

Okay...this should have been in the pics section, not in off topic.

Yeah, what's up with the stock Pickup? No recovery capability? Why was he shocked that you made it that far and a stock pickup was back there?

I wondered that too - then I figured the p/u driver most likely didn't have a strap?

Well to start with all the pickup had was one of those fancy trailer hitch balls and the h1 had something like a 12ft chain and they were trying to figure out how to wrap it around the ball or something. They didn't seem to know what an industrial rated 30,000lb test strap which is what I used. My camera does video and I should have had scott record it but neither of us thought about it at the time. Most people are totally suprised by what the liberty can do which is sad cause it got its original bad rap from having street tires and being viewed as a grocery getter.
