Thats more for the older vehicles with locking hubs. However I do it anyway, and it also helps to be rolling 5-15mph in neutral when shifting.
it was more for the electronic locking front diffs, My step fathers S10 Blazer is like that have to back up to make sure it deactivates, never had to do it with anything I had with manual locking hubs
Well my '81 Chevy Scottsdale K10 has automatic locking hubs, and if you're in 4wd and get out of it, and don't back up several feet you will sure feel it.\

Yep the automatic (PITA) locking hubs you had to back up, hate those things, still would love to have manual locking hubs ( guess after the SFA I will

) People complained about having to lock the hubs in, most never thought about it until after they were stuck, I always locked mine in way before. Oh well thats why we have all of this computer junk now due to lazy, uneducated about 4WD, people
