Well since the thread isn't about KJ's or KK's or any thing Jeep related at all really. Just about gifts for your Jeep, it doesn't really belong in the section, so it is being moved to the OT so it can be discussed with the rest of the similar posts.

well i modified the original message and post topic to make it more applicable to the general section. Please move it back as it is now on-topic.

Boxing Day is a Religious day/holiday.

Please read the rules for this forum regarding religion.

At least they are not being deleted or locked.

actually it is not a religious holiday. As a mod, please research before commenting like that. Here is a simple search for ya:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Boxing_Day

it just so happens to be in countries with mainly christian citizens, but has no religious ties to the holiday itself.

No religious ties?????
from Wiki:

"This day is historically England's name for St. Stephen's Day. Saint Stephen was the first Christian martyr, being stoned to death in Jerusalem around A.D. 34-35."

Good idea to read the sources prior to posting them...

yes same to both of you as well:

here claiming the difference between St. Stephens Day for England and Boxing day for Canada

"It is usually celebrated on the 26th of December, the day after Christmas Day[1][2]; however, unlike St. Stephen's Day, Boxing Day is not always on the 26th of December: its associated public holiday can be moved to the next weekday if the 26th of December is a Saturday or Sunday. The movement of Boxing Day varies between countries."

and also:
"Boxing Day dates back to past centuries when it was the custom for the wealthy to give gifts to employees or to people in a lower social class, most especially to household servants and other service personnel"

annnnnnnnnnnnd alsoooooooooo
"In Australia and Canada, Boxing Day is primarily known as a shopping holiday, and a time where stores have sales."

apology accepted.

You stated in your first post that it doesn't have any religious ties. Yet, the second sentence of the Wiki you posted states that it does... The point of the whole matter, doesn't matter how you phrase it, is that the meat and potatoes of you OP is holiday gifts (don't care what you call the holiday). I have no problem with the subject personally however, it still doesn't directly pertain to the KJ forum which is for General questions and answers. Just like the 4x4 section is for questions, answer and idea flows pertaining to off roading, which is why it belongs in the general BS section. Your attitude and attempts to bait the mods and admins won't change it.

jeez...what is this...moderator gang up???

It states in the second sentence that in England it is related to a Saint....I asked our Canadian friends what they were doing for boxing day.

you can lock the thread now since I have proved all your rebutals wrong and honestly it doesn't matter. All it did is prove that certain mods will fight tooth and nail for what THEY think is right for rest of us.

Mods, you do a great job of keeping the forum safe and clean...but sometimes there are certain ones that try to flex your muscles a bit too much. Honestly its kinda like the nerd in HS that is now a state trooper.

Happy and safe New Year to All (can I say that  :D )

And seriously, we aren't ganging up on you. We just happen to agree on the origins of Boxing Day. Boxing Day has its roots in religion, but people today do not necessarily celebrate it with religion in mind. I agree it has become largely a commercial event, but that doesn't mean that it didn't start from a religious subject.

That is the best explanation from a moderator yet. That is all that needs to be said and in the same calm nature when a mod needs to move/change/delete something. Not call people childish morons or tell them they are just plain wrong. We are all adults here and should be happy with an adult explanation.

Feel free to print that pic out poster size and hang it on your wall
