(As mentioned in the thread - it's not mine)

That's a return line check valve - at the time the install was done - no one knew how much pressure the injector pump could deal with so it has a 2 psi check valve - which vents to the stock return line - and being at the highest point in the system - eliminates air bubbles.
The Kennedy's about a 4 psi pump, The in tank Cummins is about 6 or 8?
so in retrospect - the check valve is overkill - but I'm still impressed with the install.

as to your question on the hoses - you should be okay if you eliminate the connector on the supply line
- the connector is great for a pressure system - but isn't really vacuum tight
and with the lift pump outside the tank - you're still pulling a vacuum on that portion of the line.

FYI - this is Kennedy diesel - the pumps ~$195

it was the preferred solution before gmctd worked out the Cummins in-tank swap.

I want to install the lift pump next to the fuel tank.

Where about do i need to cut the fuel pipe and depending where i cut, do i need to connect fuel hosing to the exisiting hose or does the pump connect directly to the exisiting hose.

Thanks.

I was going to mount mine next to the fuel tank but there was not enough clearance for the suspension. I ended up putting it alongside the rail under the rear seat. I cut out a piece of the steel supply line about 30 CM in length so that with a couple of short pieces of hose the LP could be mounted directly in line without any twisting loops.

I've decided against replacing my recently fried fuel pump even although the supplier is replacing it free.

If you don't have a air problem in the first place then don't bother with it. I've had no pump for 70000km's and had one for 5000km's and there is no difference in the way she performs.

I am currently pumpless and will stay like that, rather invest my money in replacing the fuel head if i have an air problem.

I had air problems and it was not the fuel head  I think my air problems was caused by the plastic connecors on the fuel lines by the tank. Early on in US production CRD's some dealers replaced the fuel lines to cure air problems :D

mackruss: Sooner or later you will have a vacuum leak and suck a bunch of air.
In my line of work the put the Waste Water plants at the bottom of the hill for that reason. Except for one I know of in Provencetown, Massachusetts, USA that is on the top of the hill. They have vacuum pumps draw the sewage out of the houses on the coast and pump it up hill to the plant, that way the WWTP is not on the coast. Do I need to tell you what happens when they get a vacuum leak. If so send me a PM.
